Need help with newborn kittens....?

We have 4, 5 day old kittens and they have not pooped in 2 days that we know of. We do the stimulation method but we don't know what else to do. Is there any advice you can give without seeing a vet as we don't have the money.

Update:

The mommy cat left 2 days ago.

I'm not sure if you could do this with kittens but it does not seem unsafe. I've done it with my kids when they can't go. I would take a small q-tip and dip it in vasaline. Gently rub it in their anus and slightly push the tip of the q-tip in so a little bit of vasaline gets inside. Don't use too much. It's supposed to stimulate them go they go.

If mom left, what are they eating? How much? How often? Keeping kittens this age alive without mom takes alot of money for the special formula and is a full time job because they need fed constantly.

  • Use a warm q-tip and rub it on and around their butts. It will help stimulate (I know you said you're doing something like this, but keep doing it)

And just pay close attention to them suckling their mom. Make sure they are actually getting milk. If they aren't getting enough, they won't output enough.. Is the mama eating and does she look healthy enough? As in able to produce enough milk? If so, I would just wait longer before I worry. They may be going and you just haven't noticed.

This may sound gross and probably won't help you much... but I had a new born and my dog licked her butt and made her poop. It did take her a few days and we were worried at first. Make sure the kittens are eating properly so that they have something to poop out ;)
