Will anyone apply the Avery equation to find the best agitator on their favorite team?

Hi

So I am going to come up with what I call the Avery Equation. It is going to be kind of like a QB rating in that it is a random number to the average person but it will mean something to a talking head. So here is my Avery equation, PIM drawn- PIM taken, then take and divide by PIM drawn. Now raise that to the power of a irrelevant number (goals times assist) divided by total points. Times this number by 1000 and you have percent pest,

Ok, have at it kids.

Thank You

Update:

ps Russ good concept, but I felt you have to penalize the agitator for actually contributing on the score sheet.

Your math is a little flawed here because someone could have a negative pest score depending on how many goals and assists they get if they have more pim taken then drawn and their goals times assists equals an odd number they will have a negative score.

Lets give some numbers (not actual)

Sean Avery: Pim Drawn: 88 PM taken: 120 Goals: 9 Assists: 15 Points: 24

    88-120=-32/88= -.364^(9x15)=-.364^(135)=5.6e-60/24=-2.33e-61= .-2.33e-58

so Sean would be a -2.33e-58

    Pavel Datsyuk: (Fake numbers)

    Pim Drawn: 100 Pim taken 10 Goals 30 Assists 50 points: 80

    100-10 =90/100 0.9 ^(1500)= 2.31 e-69/80=2.89e-71=2.88e-68

So Datsyuk has a positive pest score and avery has a negative pest score...So datsyuk is the better pest?

What you should do is not raise it to the power of goals times assists, but just square it because it will make all answers positive, and the larger your point totals the lower your pest score is.

I think you should take points out completely because if someone has 0 points then their pest score is just a 0, and they could be the best pest ever.

It should be Pim drawn- pim taken/ pim drawn ^2 (to make it all positive) x100 then raise it to the power of 1+majors taken (the 1 is there for in case a player has not taken a major his number is not automatically a 0)

    So with that

    Avery: 88pim drawn, 120 taken, 6 majors

    88-120=-32/88=-.36^2=.1296x100=12.96 ^7=61409422

    Datsyuk: 100pim drawn 10pim taken 0 Majors

    100-10=90/100=.9^2=.81x100=81^1= 81

Does the Avery equation include bonus points for owning a man purse? And what about bonus points for calling another agitator gay? Because those would be important points when drawing up a comparison chart.....and if they know any good donut jokes that cant go unrewarded!

It seems like too much work to look up the factors that make up the Avery equation so I will offer up that the Wings best agitator has to be Justin Abdelkader. He runs around pretty good and seems to have taken a page from the Kirk Maltby book of chirping.

I always thought this was how many seconds it took in the game to make someone cuss you out / PIMs taken, times 365 (as this is how many days there are in a year), subtract 7 plus how many pets the player owned in their life multiplied by the temperature in Hong Kong that day

I hated Math lol. But Abdelkader is the best agitator on the Red Wings.
