How can I stop my cat from meowing at 5 in the morning?

Every day varying from 4:30 to 5:30 my cat meows at the top of his lungs right outside my bedroom door and it's driving me crazy.

I have recently changed his diet because my other cat was diagnosed with diabetes and can only eat twice a day 12 hrs apart because of his insulin. They both eat at the same time with the same amount of food and yet the diabetic one has no problem with the change.

The other one however likes to meow as if he's trying to wake me up and feed him. He's gone as far as managing to open my bedroom door and meow in my ear. During the day he's completely fine it's just within that time period.

I have ignored him, told him to shut up, sprayed him with water, and even whacked him with my pillow. I can't feed him without worrying that the diabetic one will eat too which I can't have because if his sugar levels get too low he can have a seizure.

How do I make it stop because I'm going to strangle the little fur ball?

Put him in the bathroom with some canned food (not a lot) and let him eat that with the door shut so the other one can't eat it and then pick the dish up and get rid of any leftovers. That should take care of it. He may be just wanting the snack but he may be upset because of the other cat and wants some extra attention because of it.

She's a cat, she's no longer likely to realize it is the weekend :-P you're authentic that your husband is reinforcing the habit with the aid of getting up. If he needs the habit to offer up then he needs to the two get some ear plugs and forget approximately concerning the cat or see if locking her out of the room works. Alternately you may try giving the cat a squirt with a twig bottle on each occasion she meows contained in the morning yet odds are she'll basically discover someplace to meow the place you may no longer spray her. i might try locking her out first. i do no longer understand why he "can not" try this yet whilst he's fairly pissed off then he could be prepared to attempt something new.

Before you go to bed lock the cat in one room with the food untill he has eaten it all and then let him out, so the other cat dosent get his food to.

we have to do this with our 2 dogs because 1 is a gready little ***** who eats hers aswell as our other poor dog

Other than leaving your door open and allowing the cat to sleep in your room you could take him to the vet because there could be something wrong with him, that's causing it. If not, you may want to consider finding him another home where someone loves to sleep with their pet, you obviously do not.

try leaving the door open! it might just be lonely and want some attention.

He wants you to let him in!!! Lol he gets lonely around that time obviously. Leave your door open for him. I bet he be begging you to open the door in cat language! "MEOOOW MEOW MEOOOOOOW!!!!!" translates to "Open the GOD DAMN DOOR!"
