Did You Know There Is A Stalker Waiting?

His shadow can be seen slightly

from his hiding spot behind the tree

a quiet stalker of souls he will

wait for his appointed moment

to step out and place his hand

on the shoulder of the living

once touched it is a downhill slide

toward the pit of no-man's land

the forever after of nothingness

as always his life plan

you can pull away all you want

his hand has an eternal grip

and once chosen you may escape, but

he'll lay in wait again behind the tree

until he escorts you down the dark path

soul stalker, i wouldn't call him that

when bodies have become all worn

he waits for you in suit and hat

been watching you since you were born.

a friend who holds your freedom key

    not something evil, sinister

when he comes for you, do not flee

let go, death is sweet, not bitter.

Hi Shirley I enjoy your posts but would take this in a different direction, neither dark nor alludin to a light, but a more gentle sense of the hand bein generic, and the unknown come to take me home. Good write though. I'm pretty much aware of my expiration date.

Last night I saw upon the stair

A little man who wasn't there

    He wasn't there again today

This is a narrative with no punctuation and short sentences. Sorry but poems have flow, they're not just 1 2 3 4 5 6 etc.

Luckily I do not believe in evil or yours would be the scariest Halloween poem yet!

    The Challah

I watch the ropes of dough

    Intwined in a golden loop

How sad it is to know

This bread shows a loathsome truth.

The two rings of tasty bread

    Are good motives and vile

Hard to get in my head

    That they always reconcile.

    Turn a good motive over

And you will always find the bad

And the evilest beast on their cover

Can be sweet loving moms and dads.

The challah as a spiritual axiom

    I believe is always so

    Hand in hand with odium

    Beautiful flowers grow.

So that cold chill I got this morning was not the blanket shed? Excuse me, I need to start running! Fun read in a darkish way.

There is an old Jamaican folklore song and it goes something like this:

    Satan can't catch me again

    Can't catch me again

You held me down for a very long time

    Tried to go

But you wouldn't let me go

    Now I free

    And you comin' after me

But you can't catch me again.
