Which is worse, turtling or constantly having to have teammates fight for you?

If you can't fight your way out of a wet paper bag...fine (then don't get yourself in situations where you're having to have someone fight your battles for you).

Anyone with respect for the game, their teammates, or themselves can avoid turtling.

I think it depends why the fight is happening in the first place. Because if the player that turtles up actually started the fight with some nasty hit, then that looks worse too me. If that same player that laid a nasty hit had his teammates fight for him, I think it could be more understandable since a team sticks together no matter what. But if there is no "Nasty Hit", and this player just constantlu has guys fight for him because he is too scared then yeah I'd rather see him turtle up.

  • Depends....if you're a Teen-age Mutant Ninja Turtle, it can be a good thing. Otherwise, turtling is a disgrace. If you gave someone a cheap shot, then refuse to answer the bell for it, that is the act of a coward. Didn't Gretzky have teammates fighting for him constantly? That's why enforcers are a necessary evil.

If you are a star player and you aren't a cheap shot artist, why wouldn't you have a teammate fight for you. The team doesn't pay huge dollars to have you sit in the penalty box or worse, break a hand.

Do you constantly turtle or just a one time thing?

If you turtle all the time, all it is doing is adding PIM totals to your career and spending less time on the ice. Not a good thing, unless that is you're role. And if it is you're role, you shouldn't be turtling all the time.

If you have teammates always stick up for you, it's not a bad thing, that is probably their role, as enforcers, and it shows not to mess with you. Datsyuk has two fighting majors in his career, and has been in one fight, vs Corey Perry. It is nice to see players stand up for themselves, but I would've cried if Datsyuk hurt his hand. When the Wings had Dallas Drake, no one could mess with the Wings players, for they knew they would have to answer to Drake, or Downey.

In the end, it comes down to perspective, if you're job is to fight, you shouldn't turtle, but there is nothing wrong with it, but it would be much worse to have someone stand up for you, if you are a fighter.

If you are a scorer, their is nothing wrong with having your teammates fight for you, or turtling, for you aren't a fighter, at least you stuck up for yourself, but nothing wrong with having an enforcer fight for you.

In the end: which is worse, it's debateable. For the team as a whole, it depends who is doing the fighting. But I would rather see Abdelkader fight for Datsyuk, than see Datsyuk turtle.

You could be talking about Claude Lemieux.

Having to have teammates fight for you. Of course, if you didn't the Goons would be out of work.
