Do you recycle, or do you throw it all in the garbage?
We have curbside service, but it all goes to the landfill anyway. :)

We reduce, reuse & recycle. Our town picks up our garbage, but they do a good job at keeping things separated & sending them to the appropriate places.

If your local waste removal service includes a separate bin for recycling, the recyclables sometimes go to the landfill, but that still doesn't mean that they are included in the land fill. Usually recyclables go to a separate facility where they are sorted and processed for recycling. However, some land fills have this step done on site. In any case recycling is still a good idea. I recycle plastic and glass goods, that or I simply re-purpose them around the house. Glass bottles such as Snapple bottles make good vases.

I recycle everything that I can. I save plastic, aluminum and steel cans, newspapers, cardboard, the works. It used to be we separated into separate bins for each type, but now, all recyclables can be mixed in a single container and the mix is sorted later at the recycling facility. I still separate in my blue bins mostly out of habit. Recently, they added garden and food waste for composting separate from other items. we are charged an extra $10/month for a recycling fee whether we recycle or not. There are penalties if you do NOT recycle and lump everything into the trash, though I do not know of anyone being prosecuted yet.

In our community we have a recycle program. The city gives us a recycle bin that is picked up seperate from the reg. trash & if you have excessive recyclables in the reg. trash you could get up to a $100 ticket.. So, it's best to recycle whatever you can. We recycle cans, plastic & cardboard.

I started recycling a few years ago. I'm all about convenience and was always concerned it would be such a hassle but its not at all. What would be the ultimate hassle is if the landmines were filled up and trash had to be stored in undesirable areas.

We live in the country. We put our recyclable items (paper, plastic, aluminum cans, glass) in a big plastic tub and when it is full, we take it to the recyclable bins and sort them. It has become a good routine.

My town recycles aggressively, and if you don't have a contractor to come pick it up, you also get to take there as well. It's a participatory sport and social event around here.
Pickup is for pansies, and there are few things as fun as hurling bottles into a metal trucking container.

haha we do both but most even recyclable items I think go in the garbage :) and same reasons here too I guess.

We reuse and recycle all we can. Our town doesn't have pickup service but they have several drop off containers around town that we use.
