problem with engine stalling.no codes?

i have a 1998 dodge ram with the 5.2 motor,my problem is when i start it and take my foot off the gas peddle it stalls out does not want to stay running,will start right back up then stall,does any one know what the problem might be.thanks

    no codes = nothing wrong with the sensors or wiring. check for a restriction in the air filter, check for a vacuum leak, have the fuel pressure tested (it could be a failing fuel pump) have the battery tested (dodges hate low voltage) and for what its worth if your 1998 is anything at all like my 2000 it has no fuel filter. the only filter mine has is on the fuel pump inside the tank. forgot about the IAC thats a good suspect as well, and just as the other poster said clean it.

    Simple problem with a SIMPLE answer. You have a stuck IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE. THis gizmo regulates incoming air volume that raises and lowers your idling speed, as well as fine tuning fuel mixture at lower engine speeds. Usuallly this problem occurs form the extended use of regular conventional or cheap bulk oils found at many quicky lubes. Engine oil vapors are gathered up and redeposited as sludge within the throttle body and IAC valve. The offending sludge is easily removed with a can of Gum-out spray and/or a can of AMSOIL FOAMING CLEANER. These engine controllers should be periodically cleaned to showroom condition to operate the way they were designed to. You will be surprised at how much smoother your engine will run, and gain improvements in economy and power, BOTH. Also,if you are going to tinker, you should install a set of BOSCH Fusion or Denso Iridium plugs at this time. These plugs will chemically react with fuel and provide better power and economy over the stock Champion units, which are NOT very efficient. Good luck

    First guess, plugged fuel filter.

    Second: fuel pump or pressure regulator or relay

    It's a guessing game, but likely a fuel delivery problem.

    Now if it cuts off as soon as you release the ignition key, you could have a faulty ignition switch too.
