Pitbull bending his front legs/ wrist bones sticking out?

Hello.I have a 2 month old Pitbull Terrier. I've noticed that his front wrists stick out, at first I though it was normal because these types of dogs tend to be thick and muscular and walk with their legs kinda out. Although, now I've noticed that he kinda limbs when he puts pressure on his front legs, and he falls to his head a lot, due to his wrist bending. Im getting really worried, and I'm not sure what to do. It's not only one leg, it's both his front legs, and his wrist bone sticks out more than normal. I would appreciate it greatly if y'all can help me out and give me some advice as to what I should do next. Please reply to me ASAP, thanks a lot.

American Pit Bull Terriers are not thick dogs, they are lean and muscular. What you have is probably an American Bully. And neither breed should be bowlegged.

Your pup needs a vet appointment ASAP, sounds like he is poorly bred and probably either his bones are not growing correctly, or he could have a calcium deficiency, or a number of other problems.

Quite simply, it can be a number of developmental issues given his age (see links below). He needs an X-Ray ASAP.

Some of these skeletal issues are linked to diet (as mentioned above). With larger breed dogs, you can't overfeed them. You need to limit their energy and calcium intake with large breed food or the bones grow too fast for their body to keep up.

Stop any supplements and see a vet asap.

Thats not good but i dont think you could really do anything about so maybe call a vet and explain whats going on the vets will probably set you a appointment or tell you to go to a animal hospital. Good Luck.

You should make an appointment with the vet and take your dog to the office to be evaluated. If you have not gotten his puppy shots yet, you need to get started on that, anyway. Take a fresh stool (poop) sample with you so he can also be checked for worms.

  • it sounds like he's knuckling over.

do you have him on a high quality food such as TOTW, Oreijn, Canidae or RAW?

or is he on a poor quality food such as science diet, pedigree, eukanuba or beneful?

although I would go to the vet to rule out any more serious health problems

but if he IS knuckling over, switch to a better food (like some in my top list) and give him ester-c vitamin pills (work yourself up to 1000 mgs)

do NOT feed what your vet suggests. they are PAID to suggest a certain food, and in the case of a nutrition related issue that will do more harm

First, answer this question. Did you adopt him or was he part of a litter from one of your older dogs?

If you adopted him, chances are he was an abused animal, his previous owner(s) may have harmed him.

If he's part of the litter, then it might be a medical condition and I recommend you have a chat with your vet.
