Do you need a VISA for visiting Mexico?

Ok, true or false.

I have a friend who is visiting the U.S. She has a Chinese Passport. She is visiting the U.S. on B-1 VISA.

Now, I wanna take her with our church group to a 7-day retreat by CRUISE to MEXICO. I tried calling the Mexican consulate for her, but the consulate told me "as long as she has a U.S. visa, she doesn't need a visa to go to Mexico by CRUISE".

K, I'm only asking because I can't find this information online anywhere, and sometimes the consulates don't quite give the correct information.

Thanks for everyone's help!!!

    > Do you need a VISA for visiting Mexico? — false

    I quote:

Starting May 1st, 2010, access will be granted in every single entry point to Mexico to all of those foreigners (regardless of their nationality) on tourist, transmigrate or business matters that arrive to the country from a U.S.A. inbound flight and have with them a valid and not expired visa issued by the U.S.A. government.

    I further quote:

Passengers embarking on tourist cruises do not require a visa to visit Mexico regardless of their nationality; they only need to present a valid passport at points of entry.

Your friend needs to take her Passport and Valid Visa to be in the USA and present it to Mexican authorities and she can get an FMM tourist permit to visit Mexico. What they told you on the phone is correct and has been the law since the 1st of May last year. The thinking is to promote and facilitate tourism and if you are good enough to get a Visa for the USA then you are good enough for Mexico.

Please read the LAST paragraph and see that she does Not need a Visa

In fact, anyone from anywhere in the world can visit Mexico with a Visa of any kind to be in the USA and it is good enough for Mexico.

No. You need a valid passport. Avoid Mexico. The crime will kill you. When in Mexico, Register your visit with the State Department. They’ll use your information to help identify your body.

Mexicans launder drug money in their numerous casinos, found in all major cities, cockfights, bullfighting arenas and fairs. It's big business in Mexico.
