All but one sin are equal in God's eyes.

Sin is any act, thought or deed that is not

equal to the perfection of our Holy God.

The word "sin" originates from archery, and

refers to any shot that is not a bulls-eye.

Sin may not enter the Kingdom of God, and

His law says "the soul that sins shall die"...

so ANY sin is equal, in that it prevents the

    sinner's entry to God's Kingdom.

Sin covered by the blood of Jesus is forgiven

except one: blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.

Yes and no. Yes, all sin is punishable by death and we have ALL sinned.

NO, not all sin is equal. There are greater sins and lesser sins. God has common sense; look at the answer that Christ himself gave to Pontius Pilate when on trial for his life:

Joh 19:11 Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin.

No, and this scripture proves it. John 19:11 says; 11Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin. All sin is worthy of eternal death; and Jesus paid the full price for all our sin on the cross. Now, anyone who will believe and receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior will be born again; and have eternal life. Romans 10:8-10 is how anyone can be born again.

Just like with nearly any other subject in the Bible, you can find verses that indicate one side, verses that support the other and often verses that disagree with the previous two. There may be a range of sins, from small to large, but the reality is that if the least sin sends you to hell for eternity, there is no meaning to calling them "small or large"/"lesser or greater" or any sort of ranking.

God is a just judge. Saying all sins are equally judged by God negatives his perfect justice. God knows ALL. He knows every single thought and intent of the heart and judges perfectly in every single situation. God is full of mercy and grace that is why He gave His Son Jesus Christ so we can have a relationship based on that love that covers our multitude of sins.

We can know God judges differently because of the different degrees of punishment for sins. There are lesser and greater degrees of punishment.

(About adultery) Proverbs 9:18, "But he knoweth not that the dead are there; and that her guests are in the depths of hell."

(Those who reject the message of Christ Jesus will be judged more harshly than Sodom and Gomorrha) Matthew 10:15, "Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city."

(Jesus warns the Pharisees of their greater damnation) Matthew 23:14, "Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation."

(Those who turn back from serving God after knowing the depths of his grace) Hebrews 10:29, "Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God,"

(These are the words and promise of Jesus for people who harm children) Matthew 18:6, "But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea." (Jesus is promising us that their punishment is so awful it would be better for them to be drowned.)

Each person is judged for their works, if all punishment for sin were equal this scripture would not say this:

Revelation 20:12, "And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works."

All sin is equal in the sense it separates us from God--that is the most important thing here. But through the shed blood of Jesus we have a way back to relationship with our Creator:

1 John 1:9, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

    Remember

Hebrews 10:31, "It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God."

We all reap what we sow...whether we sow to the Spirit and life or whether we sow to the flesh and reap death.

There is so much on this topic to write about and share. Just remember we should never neglect so great salvation!

(Hebrews 2:3, "How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;")

If god has a moral compass, then no.

You can't expect that if you were to lie to someone to prevent hurting their feelings "yes you look fine today" it would be considered the same as conducting coldblooded genocide and eating the eyeballs of the victims.

    It just makes no sense.
