What do you think when a question is deleted?

Say you have been working on your answer for 20-30 minutes because they want an edited poem or a lengthy answer. You are finally ready to post, click the submit button, and get this message:

"This question has been deleted."

What is your reaction?

It just happened to me, and I couldn't even get back to my answer. Sometimes I save them just in case the poet asks it again.

I'm frustrated and wonder why bother?

Update:

After 4 answers:

It wasn't really a request to edit. Just a question about whether it needed changes in order to be submitted to a school project. I mis-worded my question. It was not different than anyone else who wants help applying the finishing touches on their work.

We've all looked at our questions and answers thinking they were all right, only to be shocked by getting a message from Q & A.

I didn't see anything wrong with the question, but I guess someone else did.

I'm an editor; so when a question comes up like that, I edit.

Guess I will take more care in the future.

I'll copy my message to a draft email before I try to submit it in the future; about the only way to get through this glitch, I guess..

Update 2:

NOTE: 11/28/11

~I will open a second window to see if the poem is still there; if it too shows up as deleted, I refresh my screen, get the IP address from the first one, and check again. When it is gone, it has been deleted by someone.

~Usually, if it is a long answer, I will save it before I lose it, but I didn't on this particular one; couldn't email it to them.

~ I have stopzilla, microsoft security, and a registry cleaning program that repairs it. Also have a performance toolkit. All of these run every day, and the antiviral s/w stays active. I use my email as an edit for an answer, can save it as a draft, but do not always use it. If it is a long answer with many links, I go to Word. I have a simple editor, so that's not the problem.

Thanks all.

tori

Update 3:

The problem is when the back arrow won't take you to your answer. That is what happens at times too. Then, it's gone. The work and time are gone, but I've had practice with research and writing, which is always helpful.

Sometimes there is no email address. Because you can't get back to the question at all, there is no where to send it. I have a few of those in my draft folder. It makes me sad too, B.C. because I wanted them to know there was value in their words and time.

Alpha, it isn't a PC problem. Mine is incredibly clean because of the tools I use. I was going to download an update to Adobe, and as soon as it started, it stated there was a Trojan virus. I cleaned it up. It's a lack of planning, as I can see now from all the great answers. I never use Freeware! When I first became a student of Computer Science I went on a date with a writer/mathematician. I was told about people send viruses on disks, etc. One of my friends gave me a game, which crashed my system when installed;

Hi Tori happens to me often and I do save, copy, paste everything I write in questions and answers. Sometimes the glitch is simple like unavailable at this time, or the question has been deleted alert, and I do the back arrow, or close and re-open to see if it's still active, and if my response dint get through then I have to to re-post.

I hate it. I have little time as it is, and to write and answer and then discover the question has been deleted drives me nuts!

Every once in a while I will click on one of my contacts and it will say that person doesn't exist or has been deleted. I've checked myself and discovered that I wasn't there either. Later, I've returned, very mysteriously as I was never gone.

Things like this just happened before

    and it shall happen again.

Sunny day may sometimes turns into bad weather.

I rushed into an elevator, excited

just to get it stuck somewhere in between the floors.

There isn`t any system here in YA

where you can first book a reply

    and later prepare your answer

so as to get it nicely cooked

and then happily laid it on the table.

    Sis, it`s just luck

or maybe just be a clown

    for this X`mas.

    1) Download EditPadLite and use it as a text editor, it is excellent, do it and let me know, I 'll tell you more.

    2) Download AdvancedSystemCare 5, to clean your PC, (Quick care) every night! Yes!

    3) DL MicrosoftSecurityEssentials (Win FREE, official AV program (Win XP=32 or Win 7=64 bit)) install it and keep it as your main AV program. (If you are using any freeware AV, kick it out)

Let me know of your progress. Many times the confusion is within our PCs.

I deleted mine before. It may have offended someone, which I never want.

In poetry they are silly with the guidelines.and selective.

Some with 20 accounts can report at will.Other times, very small format violations.

Which harm no one. This is why I word my questions there according to what Yahoo

told me to.It makes them 100 percent legal.

What feelings does this poem convey to you?

From Yahoo and completely within the "guidelines".

I've had the issue cited happen in other Categories, viz., the Question being deleted even as I'm writing my Answer thereto. Saddens me when it does.

There are people who delete their own poems, there are those whose poems are deleted by others. I think that when a poem is deleted, it is 50% by them and 50% by others. If I think the answer is very important, I email it to them.

the top left navigation arrows will take you back to your answer so you can save it.

this happens frequently on sex questions in gender studies, here at poetry far more frequently BA has been selected before my answer is finished. i usually save them hoping for another opportunity to use it.
