How can a person be saved?
Over the last week I have asked a number of questions the purpose of which was two-fold. I wanted to see what other people believed and how they answered, and I also wanted to ask a series of leading questions that would show anyone who is in search of God, how to find Him.
TLS helped us to understand that God is righteous and as such, He does not tolerate sin, which is a rejection of Him.
No1home2day explained that there was no way for us to do enough good to cancel our sins or to get rid of our sins on our own.
Doug told us that the wage of sin is eternal death and separation from God.
And Excelerate h as informed us that the only way to resolve this quandry is for us to be saved by Jesus who will cleanse us of our sins.
So the next question must be: How does one get saved?
Lucy: Now, now...who is to say what is delusion and what is insight? There is more to the world than meets the eye, and he/she who does not believe in something just because it can not be proven risks missing out on some of the most important parts.
Sandy: I'll take a tall pint of Guinness, thanks.
Thomasina: Perhaps you should take it up with Matthew. He certianly seems to have gotten into your head and left a message there. Perhaps that was his intent?
Farrah: No, doug had it right. Try checking those passages again and read the texts around them instead of the partial quotes from watchtower.
San Miguel: While it is true there are a number of Christian denominations, the core of the faith is in salvation by grace and that is the same across all those denominations. Any one of them that claims differently is not a Christian faith to begin with. Beyond that core belief the denominations diverge based on cultural and functional differences. The different denomination
And with that, I am not going to choose a best answer on this question, but will put it to a vote. My thanks to all who participated.

It is really simple and easy to understand: First, you must believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and that he died on the cross for you, and that he rose from the dead; then you ask him to come into your heart, and forgive you of all your sins and save you; then you accept him as your Savior, believing that he has saved you, and thank him for his forgiveness. You must be sincere and be willing to count the cost of being a real Christian; that is being willing to serve the Lord, no matter what the cost. When you ask the Lord to save you, you need to tell others that you believe that Jesus has saved you, for it is written that "confession (telling others about your conversion) is made unto salvation". After being saved, you need to start reading the Word of God daily; if you are truly saved, there will be a spiritual "hunger" for the Word, and you will find that it is easier to understand it, as the Spirit of the Lord will be dwelling in you now, and he will reveal the word to you. Since all the others correctly told you the disease of sin and it's cure, now you need to make the step that will determine your eternal destination....I will believe that you will make the right decision.

First Doug was wrong for Rom 6:23 tells us that the wages of sin is death not eternal death but the gift of God is everlasting life. How do you get that follow John 17:3 this means everlasting life there taking in knowledge of you the only true God and your son Jesus Christ. Where will that everlasting life be Psalms 37:11 tells us the meek one themselves will possess the earth. James 4:8 tells us Draw close to God and he will draw close to you so there is no permanent separation. Then when one dies there is the hope of the resurrection as stated at John 5:28 when all will hear his voice and come out of the memorial tombs to a resurrection. So to learn how to get the knowledge needed to have that everlasting life on a paradise earth go to www.watchtower.org request a personal Bible Study one on one free

First of all ,you can t just say Jesus come into my heart and be saved.First off you are a sinner and God doesnt hear sinners prayers. He sets down rules to be saved just like anything else in life .Take for instants the conversion of Paul Of Tarsus in Acts22-16th v. Now why tarriest thou ?Arise and be baptized, and wash away thy sins calling on the name of the lord.
In Acts 10th chpt 1- Cornelius was a good man gave alms to the poor prayed to god him and his household ,but he wasnt saved ! He was told to send to Joppa and find a man called Peter and he would tell him what to do to be saved,,,v 47Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have recieved the Holy Ghost as well as we. v48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the lord. 1st you must hear the word .2nd you must believe, that Jesus Christ is the son Of God.3rd must confess your sins 4th repent ,change from old habits 5 th Be baptized in the name of the Father ,son and holy spirit..Then try to live your life as best you can.as a christian. these are the steps that are required according to the Bible. any other way you are in a lost state .

John 17: 3 This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ.
The article below goes into that question deeper.
What Must We Do to Be SAVED?

Mt 24:13 But he that has endured to the end is the one that will be saved.
Once a person is saved, is he always saved?
Jude 5, RS: “I desire to remind you, though you were once for all fully informed, that he who saved a people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe.” (Italics added.)
Matt. 24:13, RS: “He who endures to the end will be saved.” (So a person’s final salvation is not determined at the moment that he begins to put faith in Jesus.)
Is anything more than faith needed in order to gain salvation?
Eph. 2:8, 9, RS: “By grace [“undeserved kindness,” NW] you have been saved through faith; and this is not your own doing, it is the gift of God—not because of works, lest any man should boast.” (The entire provision for salvation is an expression of God’s undeserved kindness. There is no way that a descendant of Adam can gain salvation on his own, no matter how noble his works are. Salvation is a gift from God given to those who put faith in the sin-atoning value of the sacrifice of his Son.)
Heb. 5:9, RS: “He [Jesus] became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey him.” (Italics added.) (Does this conflict with the statement that Christians are “saved through faith”? Not at all. Obedience simply demonstrates that their faith is genuine.)
Jas. 2:14, 26, RS: “What does it profit, my brethren, if a man says he has faith but has not works? Can his faith save him? For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so faith apart from works is dead.” (A person does not earn salvation by his works. But anyone who has genuine faith will have works to go with it—works of obedience to the commands of God and Christ, works that demonstrate his faith and love. Without such works, his faith is dead.)
Acts 16:30, 31, RS: “‘Men, what must I do to be saved?’ And they [Paul and Silas] said, ‘Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.’” (If that man and his household truly believed, would they not act in harmony with their belief? Certainly.)

this is from the church methodology of remission of sins which i for one object too very strongly but there again some people will so believe in anything that comes form the churches at large and to prove the point just how many Christian sects churches cults are they when in fact there should be only the one as so given by Christ himself and still valid today as in love ye one another and love thy neighbour as thy self.
the Master Jesus recently wrote via a disciple as in a course in miracles that there is no sin as such but since the time of our separation from god as and when we came into incarnation millions of years ago we have gone astray so to say and there is the atonement instituted to allow us via the Holy Spirit to return again to the heart of God

from the islamic point of view, one can only be saved from God's punishment when he surrenders himself completely to God and keep His commandment . then he must die as a muslim. see qur'an 3:102 for details. see also John 17:3; Matthew 19:16-17 etc
it is not by the blood of anything that you can be saved but fear in God and do acts of righteouness. Matthew 5:20

When we confess our sins (to God , not to a man), admit we have blown it and broken God's Moral Law, and ask God to forgive us, based on the vicarious death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, then God will grant us an undeserved and unmerited pardon for the sins (crimes against God's Moral Law) that we've committed, He will cleanse our conscience along with our soul, and then adopt us into His Forever Family.
But at the same time, even though we can do absolutely nothing to earn God's pardon, He does expect us to QUIT living a life of selfish sin. Jesus told the woman caught in the act of adultery, "I do not condemn you; now, go and sin no more."
We are saved by faith in what Jesus Christ has done on our behalf, no more, no less. God's grace, mercy and forgiveness are ours when we procure it by faith, put our trust in Him, and start following (obeying) Him on a daily basis.
Thank you for your question.
