why is my snow blower stalling out?

It's a 2 yr old MTD single stage thrower. It starts fine but if i tip it to go over a bump or throw uphill it stalls out. when I restart it, it goes again just fine. we emptied it over summer and it ran fine once the weather got cold. Any ideas

Update:

its now idling fine and i can tip it but it stalls out when i run the impeller into any snow

The carb. is gummed up with old gas deposits, or the governor isn't working

My best guess is get a can of carb cleaner and spray into the carb.

also try it when it's running

also check to see if the governor linkage is working. Do this by moving throttle to fast then back to idle. You can also spray the carb cleaner on the outside of the carb. Just be sure it's all dry before you start it.

It sounds like the carburetor float is sticking. Probably has some gunk in it from old gas. It could also be a little bit of water in the bottom of the float bowl . Either way, I would remove the float bowl and clean it. Make sure the float and needle valve move freely and that gas flows when the float is down.

Run some SeaFoam gas additive to you fuel tank, it will clean out your carb.
