My cat has an abscess on his tongue. the vets are closed today and tomorrow?

Its draining but he can't eat or drink. I have to force him to drink from a medicine dropper. We noticed that he had stopped eating and drinking yesterday. My parents think it will heal on its own but i'm worried. What can I do?

It might be a little complicated since it's on his tongue but it needs to be hot-packed once a hr for 15 minutes until you can get him to the vet. Make sure he doesn't bite it or scratch at it as best you can. He probably isn't eating or drinking because he can't use his tongue. Keep getting him to drink with the dropper. And look into an emergency vet clinic. He will need to go to the vet for antibiotics. It might even be more complicated than that due to where the abscess is.

After 24hr, a cat without water is in big trouble. Update your post with your zip code, and I'll find you a vet that's open. Your parents are incorrect. I'm not saying they don't care, I'm only saying, there misinformed. The cat needs a vet. The first thing they will probably do, is check for dehydration. They will then give the cat a shot to counter that. Lack of water is what your fighting now. It is vital that you find a 24 hour vet. Only you or your parents can make that decision, but I want to be very clear. This DOES NOT heal on its own.

You really cannot wait until Monday.

If the Pulse location is correct there is emergency care available.

Without knowing who your vet is I Googled a couple of them. Animal Health Care Center lists an emergency number, 601 856 8317. All Creatures Animal Care Center has this emergency number, 601 939 8999.

And there is an all-hours clinic In Floville:

Because it is an abscess in the mouth, it could be very dangerous if it burst "inward" and drained into his blood stream and lymphatic system.

You are wise to continue getting water into him, keep that up, but he really needs a vet before Monday.
