What is the best way to go about becoming an RN in California ?

What would be the best way to go about becoming an RN? I am close to completing 6 months of school at a community college in an unrelated field. Should I get an AA from the school I'm currently attending and then try to get into a pre-nursing program at one of the Cal State schools or should I go for LVN at my current school then go into nursing school to pursue RN? Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks

Going for the RN is the best route if you can avoid the LVN. However, it may take a while to get into a RN program, so discuss the options with the nursing adviser. In CA, they do hire associates degree RNs, so that is also an option if the BSRN is not something you can do right away.
