Can you wash peanuts to make them less salty?

I'd prefer to avoid obvious decision of buying no-salt peanuts and mixing them cause I don't need 5LBs of peanuts.

(I just tried the new package of Peanuts from a major retailer and they are much saltier then they used to be.)

My wife suggested rubbing them with paper towels but I was wondering if it was possible to wash them without screwing them up badly ...

I am not a big salt person and usually order fries with no salt, so I don't care if the peanuts come out almost salt-free.

Any suggestions are welcome.

You can quickly rinse them off, which will reduce the salt that's on the surface of the peanuts, but then you should probably dry them by tossing them in a dry frying pan on the stove for 5 minutes or until they become fragrant. This way they are not staying wet for too long which can lead to bacteria growth.

I wouldnt try washing them, then you must dry them well, I'd put them in a paper bag and shake them well to try to separate them from some of the salt
