We have a ranch with deer in Holman, Tx. There have been hunters on it.?

Last week, a truck was packed next to a hole in the barbed wire. It had hunting gear in it. It belonged to a vet from Schulenberg who said he was hunting coyotes and that he was climed a 6 foot barbed wire fence as a "shortcut" to the neightbor's property. Does that sound suspicious to you? What can I do to stop people from coming on my property and shooting the deer? I already called the game warden and he didn't show up.

Update:

sorry for the type-o's

Update 2:

By Vet, I meant an animal doctor. I called the game warden who did not show up.

    I live in Texas also, and the game warden should have never been called, that`s a job for the county sheriff.

    Who put the hole in the fence would take the matter to a different level. If it was just an opportunity for someone that came upon a broken fence or was that opportunity made by the people in the truck.

    Call your county Sheriff. Locate the hole and show him. Give him the name and description of the Vet and his story he gave you of this "shortcut" He could get cited for;

    1)Destruction of private property

    2)Trespassing

    3)Hunting without a license

    4)Hunting without permission

    5)Hunting out of season

    Any one of these will result in a fine and/or loss of hunting privileges. Plus depending on your county it may end up in print in a local paper under police activities. Kinda serve as warning to others and a shame on him for the public to see!

    You have to call the police for trespassing. Game wardens are concerned about poaching more than trespassing. If this guy had taken an animal illegally, the game warden would have come, but not for trespass.

    Set up video surveillance and catch them on tape...then show it to the game warden

    In Colorado posting is NOT required and trespassing is illegal. (You can shoot trespassers.)

    Check your local laws.

    Source(s): MY property is posted, "No Trespassing, Weapons Range, Survivors will be Prosecuted."
