What is the scariest movie you have ever seen?
All the so-called scary movies today are not creepy at all and just have a startle here or there. I want to find a movie that will just freak me the f out for a couple of days. Any suggestions?

I think age has a lot to do with your ability to be scared. I remember being scared the most (even creeped out weeks later) with Stephen King's It (1990) and The Exorcist (1973), which I watched when I was 10. Nevertheless, some other, newer movies that I found scary are The Ring (2002), Freddy vs Jason (2003), and Insidious (2010). Other "creepy" movies were Cabin Fever (2002), Paranormal Activity (2007), House of Wax (2005), Apollo 18 (2011).
I haven't seen any Chinese/Japanese films but I hear they are scarier than the American remakes. Here are some from a list I found online (see website for pics and description; includes other foreign films): Ju-on (Japan, 2000), Rampo Noir (Japan, 2005), Ringu (Japan, 1998), Shutter (Thailand, 2004), Save the Green Planet! (South Korea, 2003), The Eye (Hong Kong, 2002), Dumplings (Hong Kon, 2004) Odishon/Audition (Japan 1999), A tale of Two Sisters (South Korea, 2003), Old Boy (South Korea, 2003).
I recommend trying some google seaches for other scary movie lists. (Tip: if you type "scariest movies of all time" old classics might come up, so if you want to avoid that make sure to add "of the 2000s" )
I don't know about you but I find real-life paranormal stories to be pretty interesting and creepy at the same time. There's something about the possibility of it being real. If you are into that, I would recommend Paranormal Witness on the SyFy channel. It's documentary-style with clips of people telling their story and reenactments of events.
Hope that helps! Good luck!

I like movies that play with your mind. The first Paranormal Activity was good and so was the second. I wasn't scared in the theater but when I got home, I didn't want to go to sleep. The Exorcist is a good movie to watch. I'm not a big fan of gore movies like (Saw or all the others where a guy or monster just starts killing people) I just like stuff that messes with my mind or has a story. I like the Scream movies. Good storyline to it. Disturbia is a good movie. Secret Window is another good one (my only favorite Johnny Depp movie). There could be others I've seen but those are some right now. You can e-mail me if you want for more movies.

its called THE CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST and every second of it is absolute genius,(besides the animal violence of course) It shows real execution footage & tells you it was a fake made by the team.Thats in the beginning. But be warned while the message this movie brings is a powerful one & it is also the all the time greatest horror movie ever made,do some research before you watch it,and make sure you can handle it.
The director went to jail bc people thought the movie was real.Best horror film ever, nothing even comes close, and Ive seen many many horror films :)
