Happy Saturday/Sunday Dog section?
How's everyone's weekend been so far? Shoveled the porch and steps here, then my roommate brought me an awesomely huge cup of coffee with a giant marshmallow in it. A great way to start the day considering last night I ended it with looking at my eyelid going goodamnit(cleaning up the bar after our anti valentines night got clocked in the eye accidentally while scrapping paper and fake blood off the floor) got a nice bruise in the works.
Dog related : What's the last rare/uncommon breed you've seen lately? For me because I hadn't seen one in ages was an actual irish Wolfhound. Turns out Danes aren't the only giant breed int he neighborhood. Had a nice conversation with the owner about the dog.
Launi: I bet. ;)
bobbie: Sorry to hear, but hopefully things will start to get better after things are said and done. BTDT never any fun.
Sid: Sorry for your loss. Mine just recently passed so if you were close to her, I know how you're feeling. Saw two of the local catahoulas the other day when I was at Fetch buying cat food.

Happy weekend to you, dear. We have a cold front right now. Suppose to get into the 40's tonight. My husband has insisted I turn on the heat......
Rare/Uncommon breed I have seen lately?
A Vizsla. At my vet's office. This breed is very uncommon where I live. I had NO idea what I was looking at. Freaking gorgeous dog and the owner was a freaking gorgeous man.
Kinda made my day......uh huh.

My weekend is not starting out great lol. Worked a 5 hour lunch shift at the restaurant yesterday morning, then went straight to the clinic for my 10 hour internship shift. Had a small dog with stones, went to surgery, brought it out, took radiographs, and there were STILL stones! Went back to surgery, ended up taking 78 stones out of a 10 lb dog! Got home late, about 3:30 am. Ate dinner, went to bed about 4:30 am, had to wake up at 7am to go to a work meeting. Needless to say, I've been a little cranky today lol.
As far as the "rare" breeds I've seen lately, we had a miniature Xoloitzcuintle in the clinic. I've only ever seen one other Xolo, it was a standard that someone went to my trainer with.
An Irish Wolfhound came in, a b*tch from a breeder that was in heat that got into a fight with another b*tch in heat over a stud. The last time I saw an Irish Wolfhound was when someone down the street from me when I was growing up had one.
And an australian terrier came in, I've never seen one before, they kind of look like big yorkies. Cute thing, for a small dog. This one wasn't that well groomed, so we called her Einstein because of the way her fur stood straight up haha.
I can't think of too many other rare breeds I've seen while at the clinic. I will say this though, Labs seem to LOVE d-CON (rat poison)
EDIT: Oh yeah, we did have a powder puff chinese crested, no one at the clinic knew what that was and they thought the owner was making up some stupid designer breed mutt name for their mixed dog. I finally had to explain that no, this FUR COVERED dog WAS a purebred chinese crested, and powder puff was the name of the ones with fur lol.

So far it is going well here. Temps dropped so it is again cold out. Our living room remodel is clipping along at a good pace with walls being textured today. (If I never have to sand sheetrock again I will be happy)
The most uncommon breed I seen recently was a Belgian Tervuren. It was inside someone's car outside the grocery store and I recognized it right away. Its owner happened to walk out behind so I had to ask. She was enthused I knew the breed and didn't call it a GSD. Just a very uncommon breed to see in my area.
Leonberger would be the other one. I got to see one of these at our local dog show last summer and it was the first time this breed had entered. I had never seen one before so he caught my eye and was just a glorious sight to behold.

So far so good. It was 10 below last night, so we stayed home! But not complaining as it's been a GREAT winter. NO BLIZZARDS! Very unusual for ND.
Rarest breed? None lately. The last rare vreed I remember seeing is an Afghan Hound at the dog park a coupke years ago. Viszlas here are almost boringly common, and sold at tge one pet store we have. We had two, but ONE CLOSED DOWN! Lack of customers. See? Not buying from pet stores really works!

So far it`s been great, got scared by my Pom mix because I woke up to her beside my bed staring at me, and so she jumped on my bed and we cuddled until I decided it was time to wake up.
The most rarest? A Chesapeake Bay Retriever and some kind of Water Dog that I can`t remember the name to. Also Papillons are pretty rare where I live. ADD: I forgot to mention Chinese Crested (Hairless and powder Puff), and I saw an Irish WolfHound for the first time today!

It's Sunday night at the moment. I've been looking after my little sister for the weekend, I'm dreading going to Uni tomorrow and she's dreading going back to school, I want to be on holidays again! Sorry to hear about your eye, hope it's better soon!
Dog related:I really haven't seen any other dogs lately, just my Lab pup and my friends "spoodle"
( cocker spaniel poodle mix ) so I can't say I've seen anything rare...
Hope your eye's better!

I was up early today- 4 am to go to a UKC show, first time going to one of those.
My Rough Collie won her group and we were showing for best in show, I am the last dog in, we have gone around and I am posing my dog and what do you think knocks into from behind me dragging its owner off its feet to try to eat my Collie...an American Bulldog. I told the show manager they were
lucky I did not wet myself in the ring. Isn't that just perfect.
I saw two breeds of dogs today I have never seen in person. A Wirehaired Viszla and a Bracco Italiano. The Wirehaired was a nice looking dog. The Italiano, not so much.

I had plans to have a pretty good weekend; then I got bullied into hosting a mini "party" out here at my parent's house. Turns out the lure of the new hot tub we put in last summer just got too much for a couple of my friends so a chain of people are coming out to check it out.
Could be fun. Probably won't be. And then I have to work all day tomorrow - so I need to get to bed at a decent time, plus I absolutely loathe my job. So the weekend kind of went bust for me.
Dog related: I saw two standard Poodles being walked in the park the other day. Somewhat rare for the area, though I know they aren't rare in general. They were absolutely gorgeous dogs.

Actually, I happy to be home this weekend. I've been approx 14 days recovering & rehabbing from a knee replacement.
Good to be in my own bed, with good food and be able to sleep without being woken to take my blood pressure or give me a pill.
There's someone in my nabe that has a Welsh Terrier. Not popular at all near me.

My weekends been great. My dogs breeder just invited me to come to a show to with her, and I'm so excited to see all of the amazing dogs!
Dog related: Just the other day I saw two Old English Sheepdogs at the park. They were gorgeous dogs but the ties holding the fur out of their face kept falling out so they kept running into and tripping over the other dogs. :)
