Why does God punish us for not Being "Good" like him?
I hear that
A: God is good and always good. Everything about God is good. God=Goodness. Goodness comes from God. If God wouldn't do an action, the action must be bad
B: God made humans in his image but it gave us the choice to be good or bad (Godlike or evil)
C: If humans are not good they are punished and suffer for not acting like God
So 1) Why didn't God just make another God (a being that always acts like he does) if that what he wants? Why make something that has the potential to do bad?
2) Why does God want everyone to be like him in the first place?
If your answer is that he wanted us to have freewill, explain why he doesn't give freewill to himself? Is freewill some sort of defect? If he has freewill like we do and is always good despite it, what's his secret, what then keeps him from sinning? What's he got what we don't have? And why does it save it all for himself?
Sometimes it feels like he put us in a room with the stove on and told us not to touch it because it was "hot." But having no idea what "hot" is or means, we touch it anyway and get burned. He knows the concept of "hot" the entire time and doesn't touch the stove. Then he criticizes us for not listening to him.

Ben, your expressed concept of God is way off base according to what I know and have experienced.
First of all, the concepts of "good" and "evil" were invented by Satan, not God. Read the Bible, the Book of Genesis. God told Adam and Eve to eat from any tree in the Garden of Eden except from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil (don't touch the stove, it's hot). So, guess what Eve did and got Adam to do? You guessed it. Mankind has suffered severely from that "burn" ever since.
Therefore, God has nothing to do with good and evil. We're the ones who call God good. God is God. . .that's it. We could however, call God creative, since according to the Bible, he created everything on the Earth, including man in His image.
What does this really mean? Very few people know. The common conception is that we "look like" God. But image means much more than just appearance. I believe the cross translation is "likeness". Does that mean we are like God? Are we extensions of God?
The concept of punishment is exclusively human. God does not punish; the Universe does not punish. All that is set before us is a set of possible consequences for any of our actions or beliefs. Note that consequence means "as a direct result of", and is not necessarily bad. We misinterpret the consequence of our beliefs and actions as punishment.
So God tells us "don't touch the stove". How many people would, anyway. It happens all the time. The decision to touch the stove was our choice. We could have decided otherwise. The burn is a consequence of our decision to touch the stove. On the other side, we now understand what a hot stove feels like. That's called an experience. Sometimes what we call punishment is really a hard learning experience.
So it is not God that's flawed, but our concept of Him. He created us, gave us a beautiful planet, told us "not to touch the hot stove", and set us free to either leave Him or return to Him. What greater love can there be than that?

God created man and woman and put them in a beautiful garden that contained everything they would ever need. The only rule he gave them was to not partake of the fruit of one singular tree. Well, we all know what happened then...
It was paramount for humans to have free will so they could choose to do what's right. God has faith in his people, yet some disappoint Him. Still He is a loving God and forgives us, in hope that we will do better.
He has given us everything, including life, why wouldn't we want to please Him? What keeps God from sinning? He is God. We are not. We are just pale imitations of His image and not God-like.
It's very similar to when a couple has a child. They love the child and train it and teach it right from wrong. Then they let the child go into the world, praying he will remember all he has been taught. That he will be able to resist temptation and remain good. We know the child will occasionally fail to do the right thing, so we forgive him, give him an adjustment and try again. This continues for many years. This is how God loves us and keeps on forgiving us for indulging the negative side of our free-will.
I don't think you really want to understand this concept. I think you want to argue. It is glaringly evident you cannot appreciate what 'God' means. Or even how much love it takes to raise a child.

A is true, last sentence of it man's actions and God's are different dont mix them,He has set an example in the Prophet Muhammed(pbuh),we need to follow Him
B is false He dint create us in His image for He is unique. He breathed His spirit in us,still we are not like Him,if He wanted us to be perfect,He could have achieved that easily.but He gave us freewill to test us
C if humans are not Good and are arrogant then He ll punish us but if we ask for forgiveness He will for sure forgive
He is just perfect His perfectness is a mystery but He is perfect, but He has free will but always acts good because He is the ultimate Knower He knows the consequence of every deed so He is Perfect planner
Quran 51 56. I have only created Jinns and men, that they may serve Me.
God is very considerate He has given us a considerate path and He helps us and guides us to righteousness
Quran 39 53. Say, "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves
[by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed,
Allah forgives all sins Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving,
the Merciful."
Source(s): Quran 112. Ikhlas, or Purity (of Faith) 1. Say: He is Allah, the One and Only; 2. Allah, the Eternal, Absolute; 3. He begetteth not, nor is He begotten; 4. And there is none like unto Him. - ?Lv 79 years ago
First what is good about this God? You are trying to make sense of nonsense, you are listening to others who they want you to think are stronger, wiser, faster, smarter, more worthy, listen to your heart, it will never lead you astray. Instead of thinking of divisions of good and bad, just try for a little while seeing life as it Is...without dividing and defining what is. Labeling everything is such a problem. Life just Is. No one does anything wrong considering their picture of the world, it is the picture we must work with.

Why does a mom tell the child to not touch the hot iron? Because it will burn them. And she knows it will hurt the child. That's how God is. He doesn't criticize us. He just hopes we learn from it. And become better. He is trying to give us the best life we possibly can have because the consequences of bad is bad, just like anything in life. God does share His power with us by the holy spirit. That's how miracles are able to happen and other supernatural things. If God was not sharing his glory with us, then we wouldn't have the opportunity to go to heaven. I hope this helped!

I think your question should be rephrased to:
Why does society punish those that do not live according to social expectations for good?
I can not tell you why a God would punish any one. Isn't punishment itself necessarily a retribution of evil unto evil?

Sometimes the choices that are presented before us are not in the nature of good and bad. Rather, we are often presented with two or more alternatives which are quite neutral in that they help us but do not really cause direct harm to others. It is these situations that confound me. Sometimes, hard work is not rewarded and God (if He even exists) allows or sets up Catch 22 damned if you do damned if you don't type situations which cause decent and ordinary people to become terribly confused and resort to questionable forms of pain relief.
In a certain religious scripture, a highly respected mythological character wagered and lost his wife (whom he regarded as chattel) but this scripture speaks of yards and yards of cloth protecting the modesty of the beleaguered woman when she cried out for help from God. In reality, these grotesque forms of human trafficking still continue and bartered women are raped by their "new owners" even if they cry out to God from the deepest recesses of their hearts and minds. God sometimes allows dangers to visit the doorsteps of the elderly and young children who are incapable of defending themselves. This is cruel but absolutely true.
We have all been schooled to NEVER BLAME GOD and patiently endure all hardships that HE places in our way on PURPOSE. Most religions resort to flimsy theodicies and warn us of dire consequences if we attempt to exit the game on our own terms (read suicide). The present theological construct of most religions seems to function on instilling fear psychosis and a deep seated divine hypocrisy. Most Gods have been permitted to have their share of fun with women but real earthly men have been warned against this. Man has a mind but is more often than not prohibited from using it. Man has been told to function on logic when it comes to carrying out the professional and mundane duties assigned to him but God can, at his discretion swoop in and destroy it all. Man has "officially" been granted freewill but has to desist from using it or complaining that he cannot use it to his advantage. In "morality-neutral" situations God can still smash your dreams (which he has given you the power to dream) to smithereens and justify it with "some higher purpose" or his "divine will" which is "God-alone-knows what" He can pave your path with manholes for your entire lifetime and command you not to fall into any of them but give you no ability to see what's in front of you. The catch is that if by fluke anything at all goes well in your life, it's because God decided he likes your face and wants to keep you like a prized exhibit but if anything goes wrong it's all your fault, you dirty, immoral sinner of a man. If theology is to be believed, life is a schizophrenic and twisted game that is the result of a sadistic mind.
This is how the world runs and our black and white moralistic system prevents us from seeing or digesting these ugly facts, which is why religious people come up with the drivel that justice delayed is not justice denied.
