Opinion on ear gauge sizing..?

I recently downsized, not knowing what size I was I ordered some 1/2"(12-12.5mm) plugs with an average flare.

I was only able to get the plug on one ear (it wasn't the jewelry, I tried both ears) and I still have no idea what size I am. Do you think it's wiser to go down just one size (11mm,) or two (9-10mm) to compensate for the flares? I'm alright if the plug is a little loose in the middle, I just would want the flares to be big enough to keep the plug in.

Thanks

i think you should down-size. those massive ear guages are so hard to take care of (smelling, etc.) and they leave those gross-looking scars and that residue.

also, don't go with flares, go with tunnels. i wear some that are made of this really comfortable rubber-type material, and i can't even tell they're there : )

try and get super squish plugs so you can bend the flares so you can put them in your ear easier try hot topic or your local tatoo and peircing shopss
