How do you clean broccoli crowns and their short stems?
Water runs off them better than treated fabric; how do you assure that they are clean?
The idea of blanching and soaking sounds hygienic. How does baking soda or salt help
with cleaning? Dare I use a veggie brush or will that shred the crowns?

It's not easy to wash them, and I don't like to use chemical vegetable wash. I always blanch them in boiling water first before cooking broccoli, it should kill the bacteria, and it makes cooking it easier.

I soak them in cold salt water for 5 - 10 minutes, then rinse them by spraying cold water on them.

fill a large bowl with water & a little baking soda swish broccoli in there then rinse well with cool water.
