Can you believe how hard everyone is coming down on Kirk Cameron?
I mean jeez, whatever happen to freedom speech? I personally agree with his opinion on gays. I'm sick of everyone having to be so politically correct when it comes to gay people. Especially when the Bible makes it perfectly clear that it's wrong!

I usually don't get involved in these conversations on here, as most people just seem to be here to argue, but I've got to say a few things. I would like to give a quote from an out of date document.
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."
Cameron has every right to have an opinion, and to give his opinion. There are far too many people showing him hatred and "devoting themselves to taking him down" simply because the man honestly answered a question asked of him. Furthermore, he has every right to believe God, regardless of how many people think that God is outdated because He doesn't agree with them. I think it's sad how everyone will say, "Well, all opinions are of equal value because they are just opinions, and we all have a right to a different opinion.", but they only keep that stance until someone poses an opinion that does not agree with theirs.
There are people asking the ridiculous question "What if someone said the same things about someone skin color?" This is a far different issue than skin color. This is making a choice to do something that anyone with any sense can see is clearly unnatural. Come on, do we need a high level degree to see that point A goes to point B?
The last thing I would like to say is that sometimes what is NOT said is just as important as what IS said. Notice he did not say that we should treat people who indulge in homosexual activity with hate, disrespect, anger, ect. I agree 200% with what Cameron said, but Cameron serves the same God that I do, and that same God said, "Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.", and "the goodness of God leads you to repentance." Cameron does not have some secret agenda of violence against gay people. I think people read way too much into someone voicing their opinion when it doesnt agree with theirs...

I think Kirk Cameron is completely and absolutely entitled to his own opinion. It's what makes our country great. But when you are a public figure, on a national program and you put your opinion out there you are inviting other people to agree or disagree with you publicly. Some people are polite, some are not. Either way he brought it on himself.

Nothing happened to freedom of speech, but it's a two-way street.
The Bible may say homosexuality is wrong, but that is not relevant, as not everybody considers the Bible an authority.

paul you are spot on!
When did the morally reprehensible become the voice of 'love'?
God's love is NOTHING like man's love.
All you pretending Christians and watered down clergy are so out of touch with God's Truth you might as well call yourselves atheist.
I applaud Kirk Cameron

Ah, I see. So apparently you're only okay with the free speech rights of people you agree with. Otherwise, why would you castigate those people who "come down on" Kirk Cameron?
If he has the right to be an intolerant, bigoted d-bag, we have a right to call him one.

eh, just the world we live in - you have every right to express your opinions, and everyone else has every right to express their opinions about your opinions
especially on a controversial topic like that, once you 'pick a side' and start speaking up, you open yourself to attack from the opposite side

Because people are tolerant of all kinds of perversions and immoral behavior but intolerant of people who point out sin. The idea that you will be judged by a righteous God is offensive to those who are dead in their sin.
@Acid Zebra People who equate the struggle of people of color with people who choose to be perverted sexual deviants is offensive and shows how out of touch you are. Black people for example couldn't hide their color in the closet and only come out when they were comfortable with the people around them.

You are absolutely right. The Lord needs more Christians like him to speak
the truth regardless of what the world thinks. God Bless you, also.

People still take Kirk Cameron seriously?
He's a loon who thinks evolution = crocoduck!

Leaving the Bible out of it, imagine if he had said the same about people of a different skin color. You'd probably be appalled.
Weird thing is, we had pretty much the same discussion about interracial marriage not too long ago.
Source(s): And nobody is stopping him from being a clueless douche, but do you mean he should be able to express his opinion and others should not? Freedom of speech includes the right to disagree with others and speak up about it.
