The person should give his/her views on life, the world, its existence, studying the views of life's subjects. The Great philsopher like Dr.Radhakrishna's books will increase philosophical knowledge. In Hinduism there are 6 schools of philosophy called Darshanas. Dr.Radhakrishnan, our ex president wrote a book ''six systems of Hindu philosophy''. This book will help the beginners.
The person should research about morality, moral, spirituality and life. Research means questioning himself/herself to find an answer. For example, why we born, why we die etc.,This will give some human experiences.
Philosophy is the study of general and fundamental problems, such as those connected with existence, knowledge, values, reason, mind, and language.Philosophy is distinguished from other ways of addressing such problems by its critical, generally systematic approach and its reliance on rational argument. The word "philosophy" literally means "love of wisdom".
Ethics or "moral philosophy", is concerned primarily with the question of the best way to live, and secondarily, concerning the question of whether this question can be answered. The main branches of ethics are meta-ethics, normative ethics, and applied ethics. Meta-ethics concerns the nature of ethical thought, such as the origins of the words good and bad, and origins of other comparative words of various ethical systems, whether there are absolute ethical truths, and how such truths could be known. Normative ethics are more concerned with the questions of how one ought to act, and what the right course of action is.Ethics is also associated with the idea of morality, and the two are often interchangeable.
I don't have space to write more. One who gone through this link may have some knowledge in philosophy. i hope this is the beginning step to learn philosophy. This will help to learn more.

Hello Hare Krishna, the inherent instinct within every one one day would make him/her to become a philosopher. Philo means love and sophy means wisdom. So love of wisdom is quite natural for every one. But practically speaking most probably the immense sorrow makes one to think so deep and that gives a turn towards philosophy. JK was an example. He had intense love with his brother but he lost his brother. There he got the turning point.
Another reason:
As one gets bored with the material enjoyment then starts seeking the everlasting bliss. That leads to walk via the path of philosophy
