Anything appropriate and looks good on you. I never thought however that pants suits were appropriate for a party like a wedding.

You could have a discussion with the bride. Just ask her if she has an opinion on what you should wear because you do not want to step on her mother's toes. She doesn't have to decide, just express that since it's her day you'd like to please her and have things as smooth as possible.

(There are sometimes conflicts created between clashing parents...(or matching ones).

have only seen one wedding where a mother wore pants. Regardless of the fact that it was an informal wedding and the mother in question never wears a dress, it was an odd look.

Personally, I would just find a pretty dress to wear whose style is consistent with the formality of the wedding.
