I keep my power cord/charger almost plugged in 24/7/365,my habit is to remove battery and have charger plugged in at home. I thought that extends my battery's lifespan. I always remove and store the battery in a cool place at home after it has been fully charged. I put the battery in my backpack when going to school and use the battery only when there is no ac wall outlet. My battery works like new after 2 years. Nevertheless, laptop battery charger lifespan is limited and does not last forever, consider buying a lifetime warranty charger online from company like www.topmic.com

1st, buy a laptop with a really good battery life
2nd, use a laptop fan, i find it helps
3rd, use a program that will control all of the processes you have going on and make sure there aren't too many

You probably never shut down but just go to sleep mode and probably never have the power outlet switch to off position. Doing so will continually recharge your battery and the cycles allowed (about 1000 cycles) is used part thereof consistently and depletes up rather quickly.

do you let your battery charge overnight or at least 12 hours or something like that before ever using the laptop? A first proper charge helps alot.
