Is it true that SPCA is going to kill the animals by the end of april?

Someone told me they heard on the news that SPCA is going to kill most of the animals that haven't been adopted by the end of April and she also told me there's like 400 something cats and 100 something dogs. I was upset but didn't quite believe it so is it true?

Many shelters have the initials SPCA attached to their name - they are not part of any national group. Shelters kill cats and dogs (and kittens and puppies) regularly - they run out of room, and all the animals that have been there the longest are put down to make room for the new ones that come in daily (thanks to all the irresponsible people who don't spay or neuter their animals). At their busiest times, many shelters have to euthanize a couple times a week due to the sheer numbers being brought in. And often someone who means well finds out about this, and is shocked and horrified and brings it to the attention of the news. The shelter people are not evil when they euthanize - i mean, what are they supposed to do with all the animals? There are only so many adoptive homes out there, and so very many people bring in litters of kittens and their mothers on a daily basis. In the US alone, over 4 million cats and dogs, kittens and puppies, are killed in shelters each year because there aren't enough homes for them. Think of how many posts there are on here each day - "my cat just had kittens". Sad, isn't it? Spread the word about why people need to spay and neuter.

Oh my gosh, of course they are going to kill those animals. (pets) I don;t like to say 'animals" the SPCA is NOT a no kill organization. Please educate your selves. PETA, they all kill animals, please don't be so naive. Sometimes the costs of keeping the unwanted pets alive far outweighs the profit they can make my killing them. Cats and dogs, ranch and farm animals as well as road kill are put into so many of our everyday products. they are killed, frozen and stacked into trucks that take them to rendering plants. they are put into big vats, boiled down at very high temp.s until the fur dissipates, and the fat rises to the top. that fat is called tallow and its in shampoo, laundry detergent and even, yes, its true, cat and dog food. the bones that remain are crushed into a fine powder and that is part of "animal by-products" you see listed on the ingredients of top selling pet food. The FDA does not make companies like Kimberly Clark, Avon, Proctor and Gamble, (on and on) list each ingredient. We also use tallow in lip stick, candles, and so many things you touch everyday. please do your homework if you donate or support kill shelters. Try to support smaller locally owned NO KILL shelters if you profess to be an animal rights activist. Oh, by the way, Humane Society's are kill shelters and it a fact that 40% of owner surrendered pets never even make it to the adoption room. they are killed almost immediately. If they are not "small" cute, or if they are old or sick, it by-by to the once loved member of the family. please think twice before you get a pet if you don;t intend to care for it until the very end of life.
