how to become a Top Contributor?

A Top Contributor is somebody who answers frequently in a particular category and achieves a minimum Best Answer percentage with those answers. There are no extra privileges in being a TC. One can be a Top Contributor in up to 3 categories.

While the exact formula to earn a TC badge is a Yahoo! secret, it is known that in order to earn one you need to answer a minimum number of questions weekly in a particular category (perhaps 30+, and Polls & Surveys and Jokes & Riddles are not eligible categories) and get a minimum BA% on those answers (roughly 12%+), kept up for a few weeks in a row. Categories which are not very busy will require fewer answers to earn the badge than one that is popular.

Once a TC badge is earned, you will need to maintain the same minimum level of answering or you will lose your badge within 1-4 weeks (5 in rare cases).

According to Y!A : "A "Top Contributor" is a member of the Yahoo Answers community who has shown that they are knowledgeable in a certain category. Each user can be a top contributor in a maximum three categories. You earn it or lose it depending on your recent participation in a certain section. The more positively you contribute, the more chance there is that you will get a TC badge. Just like featured users or category leaders, it's another way to give credit to community members."

Y!A has never said what the precise requirements are. It's commonly accepted that you need to answer a lot of questions (50?, 100?, who knows...) in a category and get Best Answers on a certain percent of them (probably 10-15%) each week.

You can have TC badges in up to 3 categories at a time. There is no TC badge for the Jokes & Riddles and Polls & Surveys categories.

TC badges are based on your recent activity, not your level or total points, how long you've been here or your overall BA

1: Answer questions in 1 category every day.

2: At least 10% of your best answers have to be in that category.

So chose a category that you know a lot about, and start from there. You can be a top contributor in up to 3 categories.

It's not that great, I used to be one.

But anyways, all you have to do is get a certain ratio of best answers to answers in a category in about one or two weeks or so and you get the badge. No one really knows the exact formula though, it's kept secret but we users have a good idea of it.

i think of it has something to do with the form of questions you answer in a definite class. in step with danger, for instance, you ought to respond to a hundred+ questions in computers and internet after which you're presented perfect Contributor.

A lot of best answers in one or more categories. Choose one or more categories you know a lot about and concentrate on them.
