I was just thinking about it, trying to write a cohesive blog post about it. I'm at the end game of this little adventure. Mine is 18 and I'm officially done. My question was...ok, what's the whole point of having kids in the first place? Now he moves out and goes out on his own and all those years of taking care of him so he COULD grow up and become an adult, all that investment, the money, the worry, the discipline, for what? Anything else you work this hard for in life, you have something to show for it at the end. I honestly think that the whole desire to procreate when you're young is a trick of nature. The human animal is designed to procreate and by golly, your hormones will see to it that you will. And now that you're done, well, that's that. All the sacrifices you made as a parent? Gee, I guess you have some nice stories to tell because you sure have nothing else. Don't have kids if you truly don't have a utter love of kids of all ages. Don't be played by a chemical reaction in your brain. When they turn 18 and go off on their own, it's like you threw all that money and your youth away for nothing. Live your life and don't let kids hold you back.
