Drop A1C level from 8.5 to 6.8?
A month ago, my A1C was 8.5. I've been eating slightly better, but been doing more physical stuff and began with metformin. Not quite three weeks later, I used a home A1C test kit and it read 7.5. I need to lower my lab A1C to 6.8 for a job. Anyone had experience with this? Add'l: I'm 66, BMI 26, good blood pressure. I'm hoping to drop another 0.7 A1C in two weeks. Does this seem possible?? I'm looking for advice here before I go see my doctor again to schedule another lab A1C. ... Thanks!

I don't know if you can do it that quickly, but you can certainly lower your A1C faster than medication and the normal ADA diet will by eating only protein, fats and green vegies (low carb). I lowered my A1C to 5 in about 6 months from a high of 12 or 13 (can't remember) by following this diet. Contrary to the belief of mainstream medicine, it is a healthy way of eating. I lowered my A1c from 11% to 8% in a few weeks. Yes, you can drop your A1c in a short period of time. Although the A1c technically measures the A1c over the life of your hemoglobin cells - around 90 days - the A1c is more weighted toward your more recent blood sugar levels. As the old cells die off, your newest blood sugar has a greater impact on your A1c.
Obviously, you can only lower your A1c if you're lowering your blood sugar. If you don't test or only test once a day, you may not know how high or lower you're going most of the time. All those numbers will affect your A1c. What sort of blood sugar averages are you maintaining right now? Are you testing a lot? What are you eating? The more you know about 1) what your blood sugar is doing throughout the day and 2) the relationship between what you eat and drink and your blood sugar, the better you'll be able to control your A1c.

in such a short time i would say stop all breads potatoes rice and pasta and bone up on protein not in mass amounts but increase it and run like the wind and work out like mad but do not hurt yourself you have quite a bit of fat stores so you can deal with out the carbs you will get some sugars from the food sand the protein that breaks down also you might want to consume a small dose of cinnamon to help keel the blood sugar down but it can be done it just takes a lot of work good luck with it
i dont think that is is real safe but that is the way to do it
