Why did you choose your child's name?

Where you looking through baby books and it jumped out?

Where you inspired by someone else having same name? (If so, who and why the inspiration?)

Did you simply look at your child and say, "your a NAME"

BQ: Did your partner/family take much persuading to like the same name?

My partner and I couldn't agree between Ethan, Logan, Alexander, Lewis or Dylan. So we wrote down each one on paper and gave them to our son who was about 16 months at the time and he ate Ethan so that's what we named our second baby

My sons name Jordan James was picked by my parents who twisted my arm but it fit.

My oldest dtr-I wanted the name Bethany but my hubs insisted her mn be Mercedes so her initials would have been BMW...too many car references so I picked my other favorite name Jillian after Ann Jillian the actress.

With my youngest I had to have a J name since I already had Jordan and Jill. I took every name in the baby book and put a J in front of it. When I got to Monica I heard the name and liked it. Her middle name is my moms name with a letter dropped.

Everyone told me my youngests name was "too black". They just had to deal with it. J0nica is 19 now and loves her name and she gets lots of compliments.

I knew the middle name was going to be Nell when my grandmother passed away when I was 12. The first name Makenna came to me shortly thereafter. The name means so much to me, and my husband knew that. He likes it, but I don't know he would have had an option with a girl name.

  • She didn't have a name for about a week. Amie means love and she was born on valentines day. Coincidence when someone suggested it at first but then I liked it. Her middle name is family tradition grace

With Rebecca (my oldest child) my husband always wanted to call her Roberta, and I always wanted to call her Rhiannon, so we found a name beginning with R and it so happened to be Rebecca Hope. Hope is just because that's what my sister (she's 11) chose.

With the quadruplets we always decided that as we were having two boys, two girls that we'd name a boy and a girl each. We had Finley Craig - my daughter Rebecca had been watching Nemo and liked 'fins' so we called him Finley and Craig is my brothers' name and Oakley Brad was because my great aunt Hilda had died and she was buried by an oak tree, so we called him Oakley. Brad was my other brothers' choice. We then had Jade Shavanna, just because Jade was another favourite name and Aleigha Ocean was because my best friends' daughter (Aleah) had died so we called her Aleigha, and as we are half french we liked Ocean as a name.

However, we then instead had three boys - Finley, Oakley and Bradley. Bradley we got from Brad (Oakley's middle name) and his middle name is Craig (Finley's middle name) and then we had Finley Kyle, Oakley Paul, Bradley Craig and Aleigha Jade.

    My 5 kids are:

    Rebecca Hope

    Finley Kyle

    Oakley Paul

    Bradley Craig

    Aleigha Jade

    NORA CHARLOTTE

Nora is after my grandma, whose middle name was Lenora. Charlotte is the female version of Charles, my father-in-law's name.

    RYAN DAVID

Ryan is for Ryan White, a brave young man who died of AIDS in the early 90s. David is a family name.

Hubby had a little input, but I am the one pushing the kids out, so I played that card to get what I wanted. Hee hee.

We picked Mathew Thomas because we had lost one child and felt like our second pregnancy was a gift from God which is what Mathew means. Thomas is his daddy's name.
