Help with this math/geometry problem? The measure of the supplement of an angle is 14 less than . . .?
The measure of the supplement of an angle is 14 less than three times the measurement of its compliment.
I'm doing a review packet for my final and I really need help with this. I'm assuming there's an equation I have to write? I have no idea what it is and could use help. Thanks!

Is there any more to the question at all? You don't put what the question is actually looking for. Could you add additional details if there is more? =)
I think I have to correct the first answerer. With the information given here, there are two unknown things (the complementary angle and the supplementary angle). So there should be two variables (such as an x and a y as well).
Your answer may just be an equation.
The first part: 180 - x (where x is the supplementary angle)
The second part: 3y - 14 (where y is the complimentary angle)
180 - x = 3y - 14
And perhaps you'd just solve for the angle you're looking for? Like... y = -3x + 194
I'm unsure here, so don't take my word for it! xD

180 - x = 3(90 - x ) - 14
180 - x = 270 - 3x - 14
2x = 90 - 14
2x = 76
x = 38
Let's check:
180 - 38 = 142 ( supplement )
3*52 = 156 ( 3 times the compliment) - 14 = 142

permit's call the attitude "x" two times the supplement (2x) is 50 under 7 situations its supplement 7*(ninety-x) 2x+50=7*(ninety-x) boost the parentheses: 2x+50=630-7x upload 7x to the two sides: 9x+50=630 Subtract 50 from the two sides: 9x=580 Divide by utilising 9: x=580/9 or sixty 4.44444 (the 4 repeats)
