Is it just me or do black people grieve differently from other people?
Some of you may have either experienced it or seen it in movies but at black people's funerals, people cry of course and then there are some who scream and holler and pass out. This was the scene at my aunt's funeral this weekend. I've attended a white person's funeral once. The family was quiet and appeared to actually look bored. Can anyone shine some light on this?

Yes, I noticed it as well-I'm white. I think the only difference whites generally are more quiet and Black people show it outwardly more. I think the whites feel the same on the inside though.

Grieving quietly is a sign of respect instead of making a spectacle out of the situation. The attention should be focused on the one being buried and not focused on the ones grieving. Some may not view this that way. It is possible to be sad and grieve quietly, it does not mean you don't care, it is a sign of respect

Don't go to an Italian funeral. I thought my grandmother was going to throw herself on the grave.
