If you really want a dog you need to work into your funds a dog walker to come in I would say at least twice in the day to take the dog out for a few hour long walks. This could be very expensive.

You also should not be getting a puppy, an older dog that has been use to being left alone is the only option, and in the UK at least no rescue would rehome to someone out for so long.

Please please please ignore the advice from Shawnie Gallant, you should never ever get two dogs at the same time to keep each other company. You will have little enough time around work hours for one dog, let alone two. Two pups brought at the same time are next to never well behaved, they are hooligans. Getting two dogs at the same time what you will end up with is two dogs bonded to each other and learning from each other rather than bonding with you, caring what you want or learning what you would wish for them to learn.

There is none. I go to school 2 hours every morning 4 days a week. But then I am back home for 3 solid hours before my 8 hour work schedule starts. And let me tell you, this is a problem for even me with my 10 hour days split up that way. Thank God it's only 4 days a week.

Try a nice parrot. I use to work 12 hour nights and it worked out great with just my bird. She was never no trouble be left alone that long. I would suggest giving her at least 3 hours a day worth of attention. They cost generally less or around the same as a dog to have. Just find a good vet that can work on them.

If you have to leave the dog alone for that long you probably shouldn't get one. Only because dogs need lots of love and attention. And something bad could happen while your gone, it could "go" on your couch or floor, it could haves seizure, it could tear stuff up etc. lots of people (like on Craigslist) give up their dogs because they realize that they can't spend enough time with the dog. Also if you get one and barely give it TLC it could get mean and start biting. So it's best for the dog, and probably you too to to get a dog. (it'd be like animal abuse...). If you really want a pet you should consider another type of animal. Like hamster, guinea pigs, rabbits, snakes, mice, rats, birds etc. maybe even a cat. I know/think dogs need more attention then cats. Cats usually do their own thing anyways.

    Hope I helped(: good luck!

I hate to break it to you but NO dog can be alone for that long. A dog should never be left alone for longer than 8 hours.

You cannot get any type of dog that will be able to stay alone for that length of time. Could you hold the toilet in for 8 or 9 hours??? get a cat!

I am sorry, but dogs are social animals just like us. They can not be left for 9 to 10 hours a day. They will develop behavior problems and we develop mental problems too. You could get a cat they are loners and won't have any problems with you being gone all day.

NONE. Even if there were a dog that could go that long without company, there isn't a dog that should be expected to go that long without exercise and a bathroom break.

If you're gone so long, you don't need a puppy or a dog. Perhaps an older cat.

Maybe a dog isn't the pet for you.

Dogs need a lot of consent care and attention and walking twice a day.

a cat however can be left on their own and are still as furry and as cute as dogs.

    hope this was useful

Shouldn't get a dog if you're out for that long, get a goldfish instead

2 adult golden retrievers or extremely old dogs. You need 2 for company
