Without the ACA, what would it cost Ann Romney to get coverage?

Just saying, you assume that she is an average Joe(should that be Joline?), has 5 sons, and of course a hard working husband, maybe...maybe, making about 100K a year. She has to get insurance, she has of course cancer in her history, and multiple sclerosis in her history....assume that the rest of the boys and spouse are healthy......now assume that SOMEONE would even insure her, what do you think their premiums would be to cover the entire family?

Update:

This Ann Romney, is not worth 250M, and each of her son's does not have 100M trust....this is an average joe and the husband only makes 100K a year.....with the same health issues of the real Ann Romney, what would it cost her to get insurance....could she even afford it?

Update 2:

Good point "Top Contributor"....with preventive medicine, 42,000 lives could be saved annually! Right now, you can't walk into a emergency room for a check up...some 'lookie" by these practitioners is better that not anything...RIGHT?

Update 3:

Is anyone even going to answer my question, without the "spin" as to how bad and wrong the ACA is or is not? Could this average family of 7, with that medical history be able to afford insurance n 100K a year....what is the medium income in USA? $25K? $40K?....this one is making 100K, can they even afford insurance?

Speaking from experience IF this 'Ann Romney' could get someone to insure her the cost would be over $1,200 a month, with a $40 co-pay & NO coverage for pre-existing conditions.

This just happened to my daughter & son-in-law. He changed jobs to work for a company that carries health insurance for their workers. They have been without insurance for 3 years. The $1.200 is their contribution to the coverage. The employer pays $200!!!!!!!!!!

My daughter has a suspicious lump in her breast & needs a mammogram. It's not covered - pre-existing condition!!

The youngest son has asthma, also not covered, pre-existing, so they are paying full price for his meds.& anything related.

Their eldest son has Type 1 diabetes. Non of his supplies are covered. He is however allowed to be on their insurance because of the Obamacare clause that allows him to stay on their insurance until he's 25. He's a university student struggling to pay the high cost of education, but don't get me started on that.

This is a middle class educated, working family.

Health care in the USA is a disgrace. Pharmaceutical companies are behind most of the insane costs & are behind the Republican agenda to kill socialized medicine.

I grew up in England where their citizens are treated as human beings & everyone is covered.

Believe me I am not a fan of supporting the lazy & hope that their contribution to coverage will be taken out of their welfare checks.

We need to help the working, middle class who are being robbed on a daily basis.

IT's not about cost it's about changing the way people are treated. With Obamacare, no longer will you see a doctor, but a nurse. You will visit them like a dentist check-up, because the emphasis will be placed on preventative medicine. Eventually when you are really sick then you will see a nurse practitioner or physician's assistant who will make the judgement after managing your serious illness that you need to be referred to a specialist.

I don't think family physician will be around anymore except to manage groups of nurses and physician's assistants since they need an administrator to sign off on the charts.

It's just a change that should have been discussed more thoroughly rather than the cost of the healthcare and its benefits. The type of care you receive is important. Whether the Nurse's union is right and Obamacare type of managed healthcare will be better for patients, or whether the American Medical Association is right and Obamacare will be harmful to patients needed to be debated in the national press.

Instead we're talking about costs, as if nothing is going to change in quality or type of healthcare received by the patient.

you are assuming that she would also get approval from her new doctor in washington for the treatment. do you honestly think that the obama care kills jobs bill is going to have any effect on the rich who will be able to pay, or the senators, or obama, or the unions or friends of pelosi and reid who all have exemptions? there is a reason they made sure they were not part of this. it is the middle class who will pay for this and suffer the consequences it is the middle class who will have to get approval from their new doctor, the government appointed board who will have to approve any treatment you may or may not get. this is also assuming you can find a doctor who will see you. specialists will be a thing of the past, even if you are lucky enough to get a referral to one.

take a few minutes and read the bill, there is no such thing as a free lunch.

    1. It raises taxes on insurance companies and medical device makers. This goes directly against the stated goal, according to the democrats, that Obama care would reduce costs and increase access to health care. This tax makes health care and insurance more expensive and reduces access. it will also be passed on to the consumer.

    2. It requires citizens to purchase health insurance, which violates the US Constitution. States can and have passed health care laws like this, but states, depending on their constitutions and legislatures, have the authority to do so. The federal government is limited and designed to be weak, in relation to the states. The supreme court actually changed the bill to make it a tax. you might recall the numerous times obama was on tv insisting it was not a tax. it has now turned into the larges tax increase ever, for, and here is a shocker, for the middle class. there is no limit on what they can charge for this now.

    3. It nationalizes nearly 18% of GDP. This means that the federal government has direct control over nearly 1 out of every five dollars of goods and services produced in the US.

    4. It heavily regulates taxes those who work in health care. For instance, if you own a company that makes medical equipment used to help fix chronic back pain, you now are subject to higher taxes and more burdensome (and unnecessary) regulation. this too will be passed on to the middle class.

    5. rationing. It creates a 15-member panel of government appointed bureaucrats who make health care decisions. aka the infamous 'death panels'. this will be justified as 'cost savings' and for 'the common good.

    6. there are penalties for doctors. not all tests that your doctor may ask for are approved.

Liberals like to pretend that virtually no one had insurance before Obamacare but the reality is that most people did. People with lots of children and even people with a history of cancer and MS. Only about 15% of the population didn't have health care, and of them the largest group was young people in the 18-24 age range.

    Stop trying to rewrite history.

What we DO know is that NORMAL people who have lifelong care needs have, in the past, had a CAP placed on those benefits, meaning they’d eventually go bankrupt, etc.

Not anymore. No more caps. So, Ann Romney can rest assured that even if her husband lost most of his money, she’d have coverage.

When you're worth $250 Million, healthcare is not a concern.
