My husband's great grandparents made us a big quilt and two cute little pillows to match it. We loved it and we started using it right away. In my opinion, I think the best gifts come from the heart.

Most people gave money
I had to favorite gifts
One was a set of waterford crystal wine glasses with a note that we should toast our wedding anniversary
I would never spend that much money on crystal glasses, they are beautiful
I have them out and do use them for special time
The second was a belleek china vase with the pattern may flowers, we got married in May
I thought it was sweet and wonder how long it took to fine a china pattern with May in it
Most people gave me money, but the few gifts I got were sweet and I used most of them

A hot dog steamer from my roommate. We were on a very tight budget and practically existed on hot dogs while my husband was finishing law school. That was a long long time ago. Now I love to gift something from the heart. I knit and make afghans incorporating something of special meaning into the pattern.

We were very young and poor, so we lived in a furnished apartment. My two favorite gifts were a lamp and a set of two framed pictures of old boats.

Down comforter. Pretty porcelain vases. Money was super nice too. And I was glad to get nice pots and pans since I cook. Kitchen gadgets like a micrograter.

Old fashioned looking movie theater popcorn popper. It is fun to make popcorn in it when we watch a movie.
A hammock that we put on the balcony. It is very comfy to sleep in on a spring or summer afternoon.
We also got an ice cream maker which is fun to use.

Money was my favorite gift. But, actually I received a set of farberware pots and pans that I still use and are in perfect condition 29 years later. I also have a set of Corelle dishes I still use and are in great shape, great for everyday use as well as with guests.

My mom got me a beautiful wedding frame from Bed, Bath & Beyond. It was an 8X10, and sparkly. I loved that frame, but one day my cat knocked it over (didn't have the thing to hang it on the wall). I also loved getting cash. It helped us buy furniture for our first place as well as first month's rent.

We didn't get any gifts for our wedding. Just money in envelopes. That was very helpful.

My sister made us a set of big reusable grocery bags. We've used them as grocery bags, of course, but in the last week I've used them to haul my stuff to yoga, carry wood back to a campsite, store my climbing gear and oodles of other things. She could've just bought some fun bags, but she took the trouble to make them which is really special to me. Plus, I get TONS of compliments on them every time I'm at the grocery store.
