transformers fans. what were the motivations of the quintessons both in their early and later histories?

so they created the autobots and decepticons. who created the quintessons? was it primus or unicron?

did they become jealous of primus and unicron or feel like slaves themselves? did they want to become god-like?

the mythology of the transformers is so amazingly cool but some of it is lost on me.

This is from the G1 cartoon: The Quintessons created the ancestors of the Autobots and Decepticons, but the history of the Quintessons is mysterious. Only a few facts are known, they were slaves to Unicron at one point to find Cybertron, but when they discovered Cybertron they withheld it's location in order to conquer it themselves, and they fear the power of the Autobot Matrix of Leadership. No one knows where they came from or their motivation beyond greed (It's alluded that Unicron shares the same origin as the comic book where he and Primus were warring gods who became planets).

They turned Cybertron into a factory planet and sold two product lines, Consumer Goods and Military Hardware robots. Millions of years later one of the first generation robots called A3 organized an uprising to drive the oppressive Quintessons off Cybertron, and after they were defeated they retreated to their own world, Quintessa. Unicron eventually found an re-enslaved them again, and they wiled away their time plotting how to regain control of Cybertron while holding mock trials for entertainment of Unicron's captured victims to feed their mindless Sharkticons and Allicons. They are capable of creating new Transformers but without the Super Computer Vector Sigma they are unable to instill life into them, but they can restore damaged or dead Transformers to life. They supplied weapons to warring factions across the Universe and enslaved many races on planets they conquered for mining purposes.

In 2005 when the Autobot ships crashed on Quintessa, the Quintessons renewed their interest in conquering Cybertron again, but the Autobot's involvement with humans made them variably unpredictable. Had the series continued they would have made a deal with the head of Unicron to conquer Cybertron again.

In the united continuity of TF: Prime the Quintessons were invaders who conquered Cybertron in the distant past. Many Cybertronians fell in the invasion and the Quintessons' reign continued for millions of years until Alpha Trion organized an uprising and drove them off (similar to the G1 cartoon).
