How do new poets feel to you?

I recently read something by someone new to me anyway...Luvable Lolita...that I found charmingly similar to Dallas' homey writes; though a wee bit more ethereal, it plucked a similar heartstring, and so:

Every once in a while,

I encounter a poet

Whose style I can freely embrace,

And believe that it’s style,

If you don’t, you should know it,

I’m too old to be swayed by a stance or a face.

But a spirited word,

standing out against many,

though the others urgently try,

is more apt to be heard,

by my own heart, than any

that luckily chance to happen to catch my eye!

Yowee I probly shouldn't say my name or maybe even answer and why all the TD's ???

We don't always know a "nubes" passion for poetry as a lot of the questions are about homework, explanations, love struck in relationships or painful experiences, but heck most at least deserve a chance.

I try to not be cruel, or if I don't like stuff, either suggest or pass it by.

YAP has often been like the eye of a hurricane, knowin the back side of it is comin.

Nice to see you brother. I like it and it is cleverly written. I also accept it and embrace it.

With that said though, what is the flip side of this poem, if anyone would care to write it. Would they not be welcomed as well.?

It is nice to see a lot of new poets coming here, and it looks like a lot of the infighting is gone. I have tried to stay away from it so am not sure, but hopeful.

Many blessings to you and yours, and thanks for the prayer request emails.

I agree. There are many new poets on the site right now and I have enjoyed answering. God knows we need some new friendly faces around here.

Good evening Ray, hope you're doing well!

This is a nice tribute to that newly discovered poet out there, it's always nice to find a new poet you enjoy, opens up a whole new kind of experiences as a reader, new eyes; new images, new worlds; new words.

    Thanks for sharing!

As a virtual novice in poetry, thank you Ray to mention D, this was a sweet write.

I think any who deny new poets does everyone a disservice. At some point in the genre and it's evolution, we should accept others, suggest to them positively, whether or not they accept our opinions.

spirited is not specific enough. it can be a gentle euphemism for the actions of a posturing blowhard.

other than that I like it.

    Nice poem.

Many people I have read one time have been pretty good.

Lots of room in here for new voices lately.

I never felt one. I'd like to (especially if she was hott) but she might slap me.

I love any new poet with a brain...the teenagers who believe all poetry should be about their lovelorn experiences AND with the WORST spelling I have ever seen....bore me .
