Can kittens have whiskas cat milk?

I have 2 6 week old kittens and their mum is not availible. They are meowing cause they are hungry but they won't eat the food i have put down for them. It is whiskas kitten biscuits mixed with a little water (says to do that on the box). I have a bottle of whiskas cat milk and i am wondering if it would be suitable for them as i don't want them to starve! Also they are drinking water but only when i put them up to the bowl. Please help!

Update:

@Doggy and Kitty: I live in UK so my nearest store (Asda) doesn't sell stuff like that and i live 2hours away from my pet store (pets at home) but thanks for advice!

Whiskas Cat Milk is a treat for cats and kittens older than 6 weeks old, they can drink a little each day but it won't give them all the nutrients they need so shouldn't be used as their main food source. Orphaned cats younger than 6/8 weeks will need a special formula milk designed to replace a mother's milk: you should be able to get this from your vet, who'll also hopefully give advice on feeding routines and weaning onto solids. They'll need feeding every few hours (day and night!). Very young kittens also can't regulate their own body temperature so will need constant but gentle warmth. DO NOT give cats any dairy products that aren't specifically designed for cats: most cats are lactose-intolerant, so can get stomach problems, vomiting and diarrhea from consuming milk.

In an emergency try anything. Mix the kitten kibble with the whiskas cat milk and make it a mush. Do not feed in bowls. Kittens are born knowing how to nurse not knowing how to eat they have to learn that. Put the food in a pie plate. Put the water in a flatter container than a bowl. Bowls don't often work at that age. Try to avoid cow's milk or you'll make them sick.

6 week old kittens should be eating more solid food by now. Whiskas milk is safe for kittens, but not a good long term choice. Certainly do not give them milk meant for humans. I highly suggest taking them to see a doctor as to why they are not eating. It could be something simple as they don't like the flavor, or something more serious.

I would not suggest squirting milk into their mouth with a syringe. It will suffice, but the kittens might not like you much for that. You can buy bottles for kittens with special nipples on them like for babies. That might make them more receptive to feeding.

Source(s): I had four kittens who are now healthy and happy adult cats.

Kittens can be picky too. I use KMR milk replacement in my small cattery. At this age you can mix it with their dry kitten food in a small bowl. You can get this product by ordering from, Foster & Smith or KV VET online. I also mix a little baby rice cereal with milk replacement. They seem to like this. Also, many Vets. carry canned food called AD. It's full of vitamins and is also very good mixed in with their other food. A product called Nutri-Cal is also a very good supplement. It comes in a tube and is the consistency of molasses. Put a little on the end of your finger and open their mouth, kind of wipe it onto their little tongue. Very high in calories, so also great for picky eaters. Don't give too much as it can cause diarrhea in larger amounts. Likewise with the AD canned food. They are both very rich.

You could try mixing the cat milk with the kitten food and mushing it up for them. Bring them to the food and use your finger to put some on their muzzles. Although it is ideal for a kitten to nurse from their queen for 8 weeks, a six week old kitten is old enough to begin eating soft food on its own.

Yes- when I first got one of my kittens he wouldn't drink anything else. Make sure you don't give them too much though, because my kitten got sick from drinking too much and nothing else. So give them water as well, maybe try mixing the milk with some kitten biscuits too.
