Can a rifle be registered as a handgun?
Before you judge this question, look up "Ewbank AK 47 pistol", it looks like a krinkov with a greatly shortened barrel, but that's not what I'm looking for.
I have a AK-47, http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AicOR... basically I want to get the rifle customized (it is technically legal besides the obvious) to keep the barrel length with out doing too much work or replacing anything and replace the flash suppressor with a new one.
I live in Arizona, so any help would be appreciated.

No. Once the receiver is registered as a rifle that's it.
You can apply to make it a SBR (short barreled rifle) if you want to replace the barrel with one under 16"
If all you're doing is replacing the stock, as long as the gun doesn't get any shorter than 26" you're fine. They sell folding stocks for AKs.
Anyway, your other question was deleted, so I have no idea what you want to do with this rifle.
Source(s): AK pistols have the receiver stamped as a pistol when they're made. That's how that works - Mr.357Lv 79 years ago
Handgun can not be registered in AZ, since there is no requirement to register them. I have no idea what the hell you are talking about. All I can do is give some general information. According to the ATF, once a butt stock is put on a receiver, that receiver will for ever be a long gun. A rifle must have a minimum of 16" barrel and be at least 26" over all. If the rifle is shorter on either dimension, it must be registered as an SBR ($200 tax stamp) before either dimension is below the minimum. If you replace the receiver, and don't put a butt stock on it, you can have what ever barrel length you want and you can call it a pistol. There are restriction on a grip in front of the trigger on handguns.

Firearms are not registered in Arizona. As long as the barrel length is over 16" and the overall over 26" it is still a rifle even with a pistol grip and no stock. If it's any shorter though I believe it becomes an AOW.

You might must be extra exact of in which you're placed for me to reply at the registration. But so far as to "why" you might desire to check in them and be a "legislation abiding citizen" is in view that If it's something love it is right here in Pa, although you've got a CCW the gun have got to be registered for your identify to legally posses it, if you're wearing. Long weapons aren't stricked approximately being registered.

Technically you can make an AR-15 pistol, and it qualifies as a pistol. I don't know if you can technically take a rifle and make it into a pistol legally. However, as the others said, there's no registration, but if you get caught with it, the serial number is a rifle serial, so you would be breaking a federal law.

A rifle is a rifle, no matter how much you customize it, and it cannot be registered as a handgun.

so you want to turn your rifle into a pistol? no. that won't work. you'll end up with a SBR and biggg legal trouble.

Last I checked, there wasn't any firearms registration in Arizona anyway. So what are you on about?
