What was the first Korean song or artist that introduced you or made you addicted to Kpop?

I will start off by telling you about how I became addicted to kpop...

A couple of my close friends are sooo into Kpop. One of my friend was mostly spend her time on her computer in Math class looking at Korean boy bands pictures. On the other hand, my best friend is a huge Kpop fan. She has almost a thousand songs on her Ipod and always up to date with her Korean dramas or news. Since they were into Kpop , would you think i was into it too?! Nope, not at all. I would simply ignore and not pay attention to what they were saying. Until one day, i came across a band that would change my life forever!!!

I just got my first smart phone. I was doing multiple things at a time and at the moment i was browsing through YouTube. Do you know the section where they suggest videos for you to check out?? Well i was in that section, when i seen a video called " Exo K- History" with 1 million views. I was like " Dannnnng, i gotta see why this video is so popular!" So, i clicked on it. The beat came on and they started dancing and singing. It was amazing! I never heard anything like it before. It was so catchy and to be honest the part where they shook their pants, was the part that got me.. All the guys were handsome and talented. Later on, I found out that had another group that was similar called " Exo M" that made me go crazy for Kpop :) Its kinda embarrassing since im a rookie to kpop and most of you are probably veterans because of Super Junior or DBSk and etc. But I feel like I been listening to Kpop forever now since I been listening to Kpop all the time now ( Sorry if i went off track)

Update:

@Chantell Wow youre story is kindasimilar to mine :) Haha I feel better knowing im not alone of being a rookie :)

Update 2:

@Silver Hahahha yes! I only like a couple of the songs on a groups albums.. Like if im not feeling the song or the beats , then I don't listen to it lol ^.^

Update 3:

@Silver Hahahha yes! I only like a couple of the songs on a groups albums.. Like if im not feeling the song or the beats , then I don't listen to it lol ^.^

This happened over a year ago. I once saw an episode of Maid Sama on Animax. I liked it and searched for it online. I then came across Boys over flowers anime and its drama pictures. I saw Kim Hyun Joong's pics and well, got a crush on him. I searched for more pictures of him. I immediately started watching Playful Kiss.

At the time I was watching the drama, I learned that he was in a boy band(from the comments). I saw 'Please be nice to me' MV and loved the music. I listened to his other songs and liked only 'Love like this' at that time and downloaded them both. After listening to them non-stop, I saw a song named 'Ring Ding Dong' (Shinee's) in the suggestions and clicked on it. That was the minute I fell in love with korean music. I soon found other songs by Shinee, Big Bang, 2PM, SuJu, MBLAQ. I recently started listening to DBSK, SNSD, Nu'est, 2NE1 and Teen Top (but I've known about them for months).

The first songs that got me hooked in each of these bands and my current favorites:

Shinee - RDD, Replay... Current fav - Obsession

Big Bang - Heartbreaker by GD...Current fav - High High

2PM - I hate you... Current fave - Hands Up

    SS501 - Current fave -Please

SuJu - No Other... Current fave - Bonamana

    MBLAQ - Oh yeah

DBSK - I am now in LOVE with Purple line and Mirotic

    Nu'est - Face(catchy beat)

    2NE1 - I am the best

    Teen Top - Supa Luv

Even though I like all these bands, Shinee is my ultimate fav. KHJ's face helped me to stumble across kpop and kdramas, but Shinee hooked me with their music and dance. I still have a long way to go, more bands to discover, songs to love, dramas to watch and guys to swoon over.

    MY Doubt!!!

Am I the only one that sometimes likes only a couple of songs from a band? I tried listening to many songs from SNSD, 2NE1 and SuJu, U-Kiss and Infinite, etc. But I liked only one or two(like Hoot, I am the Best and Abracadabra). Is this strange, fellow kpop fans? Do you like all the songs from a band you like?

I didn't really get into kpop until fairly recently but I started mainly because of kdramas. I was totally against anything foreign especially things like anime in middle school. Looking back I feel bad for being so ignorant. However, my friend told me to watch Boys Over Flowers. Of course at first I was totally against it but she kept insisting. So one day I tried it out....but by "try it out" I mean I watched it for literally 30 seconds heard korean and turned it off FOR A YEAR. So about a year later I was scrolling Netflix and came across the drama again and decided to turn it on. At this point I think I became more open minded because my friend finally got me to watch an anime....and it was BEAUTIFUL (Fruits Basketd haha). So after I gave it a chance I fell in love. I've probably watched over 50 dramas in the past year lol. Anyways, initally I got into kpop through ss501 (which Kim Hyun Joong is in) and SUJU. But it wasnt until this year that I REALLY got into it.

Source(s): SHINee is my main though (and CNBLUE)Also going to a kpop concert legit will make you even more obsessed...like its ridiculous. I REALLY WANT to go see SHINee live again haha Taemin and Jonghyun oppas 사랑해

My friends are big fans of jpop (Japanese) and I asked to listen but I've never felt anything special about jpop and it doesn't have much quality (no offence). I was on Facebook and my newsfeed was full of kpop and I was like 'eww some pop again...'

I wanted to see why it was so good so I searched it on YouTube. I look at BIGBANG's Fantastic Baby and I was like "woooww this is the weirdest thing I've ever seen! How can people like this??!!!!!".

After weeks and weeks of listening to the same thing, I fell in love with BIGBANG. They're my fave band of all time and they've been around for 6 years! They introduced the modern electronic beat to the kpop industry and that's why I love them! Their next song Monster was better than Fantastic Baby and it's the sweetest ballad I've ever heard.

I'm into a few other bands as well like SHINee, SNSD, Exo-K, Super Junior, B2ST, 2NE1 and U-Kiss

Source(s): The Hallyu wave totally brainwashed me in a good way ^.^

Haha I'm a little similar to you. I started out liking Super Junior M then moved on to Super Junior. What made me curious was that I saw Donghae and Siwon on Skip Beat and I was like man Donghae is really good looking. I then went on to finding out what Suju M was and loved them for a while. In 2011 while watching Beelzebub I came across the song Baby U. It sounded a lot like K-pop not J-pop so I searched it and I was right it was by a K-pop group called MBLAQ. I didn't really start to love MBLAQ until I watched them on Shin PD with some Suju members. I watched more shows with MBLAQ and listen to more of their songs. Now I'm proud to say I've been an A+ for almost a year. I think just one more month to go. I haven't changed since then and I don't think I ever will. That's my story! I haven't been a K-popper long, but I'm glad I became one!

The first Korean song I heard is Eusha Eusha - Shinhwa in 2001 but back then I didn't know the tittle of the song and the artist. But I really like that song and that got me into listening more korean song and become addicted to Kpop.

I got addicted by Big Bang's Haru Haru, but I didn't know much about kpop and didn't really care much about and stopped for around 3 years. But I officially got hooked by SHINee's Sherlock. I've actually heard some of their songs since my sister fangirled about other kpop groups and SHINee just debuted. The first song that I heard from them is either Replay or Hello. (Can't remember) My favorite group is SHINee and I regret that I didn't continue to listen to kpop and didn't stay with them from their debut days. ): But now I will and will check out some groups too. (:

Ohh you are very new to the Kpop fandom :D I welcome you~ ...Once you get in you will never get out xD lol

    Now onto how I got into Kpop;

My friend introduced me into Jpop and from there I started watching Japanese TV shows when one day I was watching this one TV show that had DB5K as the guests and I thought they were very handsome and found out they were singers. So I listened to their one Japanese song, "Why Did I Fall in Love With You?" and fell in love with them... From there I started listening to their Korean songs... The first Korean song I listened to was their song Mirotic and from there my life all changed lol

I have now been into Kpop for 3 years (4 years on November 26th) :3

Oh, interesting question~ =) Let my story begin...

I was first introduced to K-pop in April 2010, as it was when we had a dance project for school. I had absolutely no clue what song to use, so I told my friend to send me some songs...and she sent me a whole bunch of K-pop songs. But I didn't like any of them...However, my other friend picked Ring Ding Dong by SHINee and when I was helping her group practice their dance, I kind of thought the song was cool. After the dance project ended, though, I went back to my K-pop-free life.

In December 2010, another friend of mine showed me SHINee's Lucifer MV and I decided, since it was winter break, to look into them. I watched SHINee's Hello Baby over the break...and got sucked into the black hole that is K-pop.

The ironic thing is that I'm not even a Shawol now...lol I've completely side-tracked from SHINee. I like them, but I'm not really that interested in them anymore... I do love EXO though~! I'm happy you do too ^^

To be honest, I was watching something about North Korea on Youtube, and found Shinhwa (yes, Shinhwa) when they performed in Pyongyang. Then came Baby VOX, with their performance there.

After a few weeks, came Wedding Dress, Haru Haru, and One from Epik High.

Almost five years later, theres about 10GB of kpop on my iPod.
