As a college teacher, I don't object to students recording my classes, and I have never had a problem from my professors when I recorded their classes. It is essential to seek permission before you record though for ethical reasons. Also, please use a stand alone voice recorder. Your smartphone may be capable of the recording, but it will likely offend your instructor to see the phone sitting on your desk.
