Cat New Owner, Pregnant Cat, Washing.?

I don't know, there was this cat one day outside my yard.

I was having a cook out, and she was hungry, so I gave her a hot dog.

I think its a stray, I took a picture of the cat and I went around my neighborhood, asking people if this was their cat. Put her picture around town,

No phone call. I don't know, I called animal control one time, but they couldn't find her. She later cam back, and I kinda like her now. So it's been about 4 days now.

So I've adopted her, her name is Goldilocks.

So anyway I was going get her spayed and have her get her shots, but she might be pregnant. I thought she was just fat, but my boyfriend said shes pregnant because of her nipples. lol I was going to wash her, because she's really dirty, but is it safe?

So I'm going take her to the vet tomorrow. But if she is pregnant. . . would they do it? I don't want to kill her babies, but my boyfriend and family don't want cats. I wanna keep them, but my boyfriend just wants one. I never had a pet in my life, so I don't know what to do.

Some vet clinics will spay a pregnant cat if they're not very far along. The unfortunate thing is that when they spay her, the kittens will die. I would take her to the vet and find out if she is actually pregnant. Ask your vet about local cat shelters or rescues who would be willing to take in kittens once they're weaned. If you can find an organization to foster them and find them homes, talk to your boyfriend about it and explain that once the kittens are weaned (at about 12 weeks old) they will go to the rescue group. That would really be the only option for not putting the kittens down.

You can wash her with Dawn dish soap without hurting her, but I warn you, cats hate baths and she will scream and holler. Be careful because she may try to bite.

I would hold off on having her vaccinated until you know for sure if she's pregnant or not. Vaccinating a pregnant female animal can cause problems with the kittens.

Hope this helps and I hope everything works out with your girl.

if you don't want the the kittens then i would get her spayed. if she is pregnant then getting her spayed will abort the kittens.

i took in a stray cat that was pregnant and she had 3 kittens. i didn't get her spayed in time and she got pregnant again. i did get her spayed anyway because i couldn't take care of any more cats. after the vet spayed her i found out she was going to have 7 more kittens. my parents absoulty hate cats but they are letting me keep the mother and her 3 kittens. the kittens father also came by my house and i started taking care of him. then just the other day i found another kitten. now i have 6 cats when i only planned on having 2 or 3.

if you do decide to keep all the kittens ( if the cat is even pregnant) then you need to get them fixed or you will have a lot more cats.

taking care of a cat involves a lot of money
