Need help! Cats hate each other!!?
I have 2 cats my male is 7 years old and our female is 4 years old. About a month ago my male cat got very sick, he had to have emergency surgery to remove a hair all, then a few days later he had to have a feeding tube placed and then a week later he had to have a 3rd emergency surgery due to an abscess in his stomach. Ever since then my male cat came back from the first surgery she has hated him and it just keeps getting worse. Tonight she attacked him and drew blood. I'm very worried and scared, I can't get rid of either of them. I have had them both since they were 8 weeks old. They are both indoor cats, used to be best friends, fixed, up to date on shots. I keep a baby gate on the steps so she stays down stairs with her own food, water and litter box and our male cat upstairs with his own stuff. We do let them be together when we are in the same room, but I guess that isn't good enough any more. We have bathed him also thinking she smelled the vets , meds etc. It didn't work. I'm lost and need help!
Thanks Sam, but I already do this and it seems like its just getting worse.

cats can sense when another cat is in pain by their smell and noices which sometimes can lead to fighting. i reccomend you keep them seperated untill the male is healed and able to fight back (all of our cats are de clawed in the front so they dont kill eachother(one is half bob cat)( since they are always fighting and so they dont tear up furniture) but i dont reccomend you do this to the male right now poor baby is goin threw alot

Go to PetsMart or your vet. Buy a product called Feliway. It comes in a diffuser that looks like a plug in deodorizer. It's pricey but the good news is you'll only need to use probably a month or two. The reason it's pricey is that it has a pheromone in it that cats can smell but you can't. It's a cat calmative. Put one in each of the rooms the cats spend most of their time. It sends the scent out 24/7. You'll need to replace the refill about every 3 weeks. Don't wait, you need to keep the product constant. My vet told me about it and I used it when I introduced two male cats. It worked well, I used it 2 months. It comes in a spray can and a collar. Don't use the can, it only lasts about 2 hours, you need it constant. I use the can for when my cats travel in a carrier to a vet because it keeps them calm.

You need to put them in separate rooms and put the baby gate in one room door have the cats eat on either sides of the baby gate every day move them closer and closer to each other then you can take the baby gate out and see if that helps
-hope this helps
