Swollen toe, Just happened out of the blue.?

Really just asking what the question states. I didnt do anything to have my toe swell up, it is not huge, and not noticeably bigger, but is hard and hurts on the top of my big toe. Just wondering if it could be something serious.

Update:

well im 17 and healthy so i dont think i would have gout

    Check out gout. That toe is where it shows up first.
