How much would it be to change my sons last name? In the state of Florida?

Long story short, my sons father terminated his rights, decided he didnt want to be a father and everything..My son has his last name and I want to change it back to mine, I got all the paperwork..people are telling it's like $400 to file?? that seems extreme but I will pay it just don't know.

Update:

my sons father filed for voluntary termination of rights...judge granted it..so yes it can

How exactly did your son's father terminate his rights?

Parental rights are never terminated simply because one parent doesn't want to be a parent. And generally to terminate a parent's rights requires that someone else adopt the child.

If the father simply gave you sole custody, this does not mean his parental rights and responsibilities were terminated.
