Isn't this undeniably sexist?
As a male with long hair it is very difficult for me to be accepted into the world of business with long hair (beside a few smaller businesses).
A woman can have both long and short hair whereas a male must have short hair. Isn't this sexism at the other end of the spectrum? If employers said that a women must have long hair it would be a different story.
RingOross- Sexism is one gender being unfairly treated compared to the other gender with both circumstances being the same.

No- in no way would anyone who has even the smallest clue what sexism is would think that's sexism.
In society, there is a professional standard. Men dress in suits, nice shoes, nice watch, neatly manicured facial hair (if any) and neatly groomed hair. Often with men- it's not about the length necessarily- it's about the neatness. For example,
-Is your neck shaved?
-Do you get trims every six weeks like a woman?
-Do you spend 20 minutes on styling everyday to maintain a neat appearance, conditioning treatments, etc.?
Men with long hair just don't take care of it. They think they can just not cut it and pull it into a pony- That's not how it works- if you want long hair- fine- but it's gotta look presentable, professional and neat- THAT is the professional standard. It's NOT about length- it's about appearance!
Women have other professional dress standards. Women in long hair in professional settings are often required to pull their hair back, often in chignons, in order to adapt to the traditionally male business settings. Working in the real world doesn't look like TV.

Agree with previous commenter. It needs to be neat and clean. The men I've seen with long hair it does not look brushed, or even washed recently. Women with long and short hair are still expected to keep it looking nice and professional.

Yes, that's pretty fu**ed up, especially since some of the greatest men that ever walked the earth had long hair and a lot of girls find it attractive. There is nothing unprofessional about long hair, it's just hair!

It is a convention. The world of big businesses is full of conventions. Large corporations want conformists, not anticonformists. If you want to be part opf their world, I guess you need to be a sheep in their herd and conform to their conventions, which includes, some hair cuts and not others.
Good luck to you. I hope you can remain tru to who you are and fullfil whatever you aspirations might be.
