can a loose light bulb cause a breaker to trip?

Today I was in my bedroom with the ceiling fan on. I turned the light on to find some clothes and I heard a LOUD pop, not the same sound as when a light bulb blows out. When the loud pop happened, the lights went off, the fan stopped working and the clocks were off. I went and checked the breaker box and it had tripped for that side of the house. I turn it back on and tried the fan/light again and once again, same loud pop, lights go out, fan stops working etc. This time, I saw some sparks come out from the inside of the light housing or globe. I called the apartment complex and they sent someone to check it for me. It didn't happen when he came but he said that it was most likely from a light bulb that was loose. I do run my fan a lot and I can make sense out of this but I want to make sure that this is possible.

Arcing can have random effects, also there is actually a fuse element integral to the bulb. If the filament has broken sometimes it will swing and make contact creating a shorter high current path that will cause the fuse to flash/explode.

If circuit breaker has tripped there is not possibility of hearth. If the circuit is stay there is the potential possibility of electrocution because of the fact the filaments of the sunshine bulb are area of a stay circuit and can reason electric ask your self. to eliminate a broken gentle bulb from a socket attempt using a potato. this could be accomplished only while skill has been faraway from the circuit on the circuit breaker. in no way attempt to eliminate a bulb this form with the skill on. Slice potato in a million/2 and press against broken gentle bulb. After urgent potato against bulb only screw it out.

No frigging way, and the maintenance guy should go back to fast food.

Much more likely that there's a loose wiring connection inside the unit.

The "sparks" part, and the breaker, are crying out for attention.

Don't just reset the breaker, and hope for the best.

Until then, don't use the fan.

Yes. If the light bulb shakes a bit in the socket and causes a surge of electric power and there are other appliances on the same circuit.
