I was an atheist for years, MJ:
I knew that if you could prove God existed, I would serve Him unflinchingly. No one at that time had shown me evidence that appealed to a young man's intellect. But that changed when I researched for myself.
For atheists, Jesus says people do not live up to present truth so none will be given later.
And people know the cost of believing but they are selfish. One athesit told me: "when you join that church, you must pay ten-percent."
For the Jews, Jesus said this after John 3:16:
3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
Especially for this time of history, God gives us a little extra light in a prophecy that was closed until the end of the days:

I believe people were trying to explain, with logic, things that could not be explained.
So they made up a god in their image, wrote a 'bible' which I refer to as the Wholly Bable.
I find my spiritual path in Nature and am comfortable there. No doctrine, no rules, no trying to say my is the only way or trying to convert others. I find Xians to be narrow minded, mean and unable to think for themselves. There are a few, very few, that live a life of peace and helpfulness.

People believe in God because they looked for answers like: 'where do I come from, why am I here, what is my purpose in life, what happens to me when I die?' Science hasn't given them enough or sufficient answers to those questions. Therefore they started searching for God and God revealed Himself to them. They now have answers to their questions that science or psychology or any myth or any other human reasoning couldn't answer. That is why people believe in God.

Because I have found, in my many years of studying the Bible, that God's word is true and that I have experienced it in my life. Also the prophecies in Scripture have come true and some are still to be fulfilled in due course when the Lord Jesus Christ, the son of God, returns. For one example of prophecy you only need to look at what it says about God's chosen people, the Jews. Look at what it says about the scattering of the Jews into all nations and then see prophecies about the regathering. In the last century we saw dreadful things happening to the Jews, and we can see why this happened, then despite governments trying to get the Jews to alternative countries they went back to their own land. Many are still to return but the process was started through the persecutions they suffered in many lands.

There is a lot of evidence to believe in God. Firstly, look at all of the creation around us. Just looking at the human body. Isn't it reasonable to conclude that there must be an intelligent designer or higher power? That's just one reason

I believe in God because God is real. Who are you to say that he doesn't exist. Do humans know everything? No. There evidence all around you that God exists. And if you don't believe now, you will soon enough.

lack of evidence doesn't mean GOD/Deities are not real. It is their choice to believe as much as it is yours to not believe.

Anyone can call themselves a Christian, but they have to be a follower of Christ.
Most aren't.
There are actually very few Christians who will be saved at the end of the age.

1. their parents told them when they were little that god was real
2. 9 out of 10 adults in america believe in god so it MUST be true right? (on that note, fifty shades of grey, a terribly-written mommy porn book, makes the author 1,000,000 a week)
3. it's comforting to have a religion
