Gentler alternatives to Nair/Veet?

I love the ease of use of depilatory creams such as Nair and Veet, but I have determined that I cannot use them because they cause my skin to break out severely after each use! I was wondering if anyone knows of a gentler (maybe even organic?) alternative to the Veet/Nair hair removers, without these harsh chemicals that cause my skin to break out. Any help is much appreciated!
